Nicki Minaj at 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.By: Truu
The MTV Video Music Awards has been gaining momentum and popularity ever since it began in 1984. Now fast forward all this time to today, and so much has changed in every way possible. And as history has proved, this year will surely top the last. The Award ceremony has caught plenty of criticism over the last few years, as to its lack of caring for the actual music. More for the lights and glitter. A few years ago Adam Levine tweeted, “The VMA's. One day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I'm drawing a line in the sand,”.

Now this year, Levine has has expressed he was only frustrated with rehearsals stating, “The reason for my frustration was very understandable considering the fact that I would say there aren't very many days out of the year that there is music on MTV. But there’s still the VMAs, and if I'm looking at it with rose-colored glasses I think it’s nice that the VMAs are trying to revamp the original mentality of MTV.” Although I see why he had to rephrase his statement, I completely agree MTV has lost its music mentality and has gone with more of a cluster of reality tv show/nonsense state of mind.

All being said, I will surely watch the VMA's as I do every year. Because every year it does not disappoint in producing good entertainment (if at least for a few hours). The Full Nominees for this year include:
