The Home Run Derby is a competition in MLB (Major League Baseball) in which the objective is to hit the most home runs in one game. The competition has been an annual event since 1985 and has been catching the attention of baseball fans around the world ever since. It's much like the NFL all star game in which two competitors are chosen as captains, then the captains choose from any players in the league to fill their teams. Basically taking the excitement from all years games and mashing them into one.
This years participants have been officially announced.

The Game will take place on Monday at Minnesota's Target field. With this year stacked with amazing players on both sides, it will be hard to put your money on one or the other. I myself am going to bet on the American League. I have allot of faith that Adam Jones will rise to the occasion like he seems to always do. Adam already has 16 home runs in his arsenal this season. And the best way to predict the future, is to look at the past.
Yoenis Cespedes has officially won his second Home Run Derby title. Yoenis also won last years Derby at Citi Field in New York. With a change in the format leading to an extra round, he took out Cincinnati Reds third baseman Todd Frazier 9-1 in the final. Cespedes said,
"I'm somebody who's very conscious of the power that I have,". "So I don't need to put more of a swing or more of an effort in order to hit a home run. I just have to look for a good pitch and put a good swing on it and it usually takes care of itself."
And take care of itself it did. He put on an impressive performance just like last year. Congrats Yoenis! You deserve it.
