Mississippi Governor of 8 years Haley Barbour waits until his very last day of being governor to pardon 208 inmates, 19 of which were convicted for murder! Wow.
Barbour has every legal right to do this, it seems, but the sheer number of pardons is pretty staggering. The governors before him in the same state only pardoned a handful of people between all of them in the last several decades.
What does everyone think of this? Is this some form of corruption? Or, do you think Haley is in the right for it? Curious that he waits for the very last day, perhaps that's usually how its done but seems like he wanted to avoid some serious heat. Thoughts?
