There were two Republican debates this weekend: an ABC sponsored debate Saturday night and an NBC Meet the Press debate Sunday morning.

Transcript: 2012 ABC/Yahoo!/WMUR New Hampshire GOP primary debate (Transcript)

Transcript: NBC News-Facebook debate transcript

I admit to not watching much of the ABC debate as it conflicted with the New Orleans-Detroit game. But I saw parts of it during time-outs and half time, plus highlights but there was not much new to highlight...same ole...same ole...unless I missed something. Lots of Obama bashing with no challenge on facts by the moderators. Lots of discussion on gay marriage and little on jobs. Mitt Romney seemed to have the best of it.

I noted however that Rick Perry would send American troops back into Iraq.

The NBC debate moderated by David Gregory became more confrontational as several of the candidates attacked Mitt Romney, most notable Gingrich accusing Romney of not telling the truth in his Super PAC ads.

If I was to pick a winner it would be Jon Huntsman. However, Mitt Romney being the front runner received most of the attention.

I haven't read through all the transcripts yet, but make these available to anyone who wants to chime in on something that resonated with them.

The Washington Post has done their usual fact checking of both New Hampshire debates: Fact checking the ABC News and ‘Meet the Press' debates

I finally browsed through the transcripts of both debates...a boring job...and didn't find anything that I felt like highlighting. At least there wasn't anything new that we hadn't read in the media before, except perhaps that Perry is ready to send the troops back into Iraq.

Looking at the fact checking list in the Washington Post, well again I didn't see anything in particular that hasn't been reported on before. I guess one will get that debate fatigue after 17 of these debates and watching political attack ads on TV. It's all trivial inter-party stuff...lots of accusations and defending of one's record...plus the obligatory Obama bashing...but nothing of substance that the American people would like to hear more about...like jobs programs.

So I'll let it go now. No comments needed. Ho hum.

PS -- They could certainly liven up these debates by inviting Buddy Roemer to participate. The Republicans need new blood on stage to keep the interest up...but that will never happen.
