I applaud Obama's decision to use his recess appointment option to appoint Richard Cordray to be the new director of the Consumer Financial Protect Bureau (CFPB). Cordray is highly qualified, but Republicans have blocked his appointment for 6 months, not because they have any problems with him...they don't. They just don't like the new CFPB...or maybe I should say their benefactors don't like the CFPB, and it's just another example of how they sold their vote to special interests...in this case the loan sharks in financial institutions other than the big banks.

Read Richard Cordray's message here: Standing Up for Consumers

I expect to hear a lot of good things about Richard Cordray and the CFPB in the next year. Too bad he couldn't have got started 6 months ago.

And for those Republicans that are whining and threatening Obama about this recess appointment, I would love to see Obama say..."Go ahead ****s...make my day." The majority Americans are on Obama's side.

For those interested in all the details and legalities of the recess appointment that surely be discussed in the coming days, Newsvine has a good article, January 5, 2012: Obama's Recess Appointment: The Reason and Justification

I won't go into the details...it's a good article.

Okay I just watched Lawrence O'Donnell interview Richard Cordray. I'm impressed. This guy is good for CFPB and will be good for the American people. He is bi-partisan...works across the aisle and is on board and running. Republicans will look stupid trying to stop him...a very bad strategic move on their part.

Obama has won again.
