The missing truth
Most of us have heard the ten commandments. But most of us never heard the truth about one, “Thou shall not use the name of the lord in vain.” Most believe, this commandment is about swearing. Sorry to say, swearing maybe part of the meaning, but far from it’s greater meaning.
Did you ever look the word vain up in the dictionary? If you did, you saw not a word about swearing. Nothing about what we all have been lead to believe, using the name of the lord in vain means. Why? Simple. Once I explain the true meaning, you will understand why no priest, preacher pastor, or minister, speak this commandments true meaning. If you don’t understand why don’t worry, I will explain it for you too.
When a preacher comes into our town with just the shirt on his back, and leaves in a Cadillac, he used the name of the lord in vain. When someone says God is not good, this too is using the name of the lord in vain. “Do not use the name of the lord for personal gain or say things about God that are not true,” this is the larger meaning to the commandment, “thou shall not use the name of the lord in vain.”
So why do we only hear that this commandment is about swearing? Sure swearing maybe a fraction of this commandments‘ meaning, but far from it’s larger meaning. The answer is simple. If you have not figured it out, allow me to explain.
If religions explain the true meaning, then we might start to question how the Catholic church became the richest private organization in the world. We might start to question why our church leader lives better than most of the ones in our church. Of course our leader needs to be paid, but it is clear, some of our church leaders have broken God’s commandment, and never preached about the true meaning of this commandment, to protect or hide their own sin.
Of course not all preachers or church leaders use the name of the lord in vain, Mother Teresa certainly didn’t. I will guarantee, she knew the true meaning of the most misunderstood commandment. Misunderstood for a very good reason, to hide holly mans sin.
