Um, apparently modifications to the Defense Authorization Act have persuaded White House.

Here's huffpost: Indefinite Detention Bill No Longer Faces WH Veto.

I really don't know what to make of bill. Language is deliberately confusing. This will all result in millions of dollars in litigation.  It all should be taken out....and voted on seperately.....with more time and debate.  Shouldn't be tied to omnibus defense bills.

Reminds me of the Libyan war debate, i.e. arguments over UN participation act. I think Obama violated plain-language of WPA after the 90 day window. SCOTUS has never weighed in on War Powers Act.  Plain language of WPA might be unconstitutional too.  Either way, Congress still has to act to assert its authority over the dictatorship of the commander-in-chief.

Anyways, proponents have said on Senate floor bill will allow indefinite detention of American citizens engaging in "terrorism."

Now, language of modified bill, might protect citizens; but we are clearly closer to the point when there are not these protections.

Funny how "party of small government" overwhelming favors 1984.

I am not typically a fan of Ron Paul or his son Rand Paul. But I am thankful for them right now.

Occupy Congress. 1/17/12. Bring Tent.
