THE WORLD NEEDS YOU NOW !!  ---- IF WE LEAVE THIS WORLD TO SOME OF THE NEW REPUBLICANS, it will be nothing but millions of sick, hungry people, living in a nuclear waste dump of toxic debris. Our country will rust & fall apart, while they spend all the money on golf courses (in Hawaii), endless WARS with dozens of countries, BOMBS & missiles, & propping up the most greedy corporations on earth, which think nothing of polluting all our air and water.

But I could never say it any better than this musical video, -- by fabulous MJ -- (one of our own):

Isn't it inspirational?

Thanks, Veronica.

This is a very inspriational video, and very timely in view of what's happening
in Congress. I'm posting the video on my Facebook page this morning.

You know I just don't think it's fair anymore to allow the GOTP to lay claim to Lincoln's party. So I'm not one to describe these "New Republicans" as you call them, as being, in fact, New Republicans. They are a revanchist cult attempting to manufacture populist consent to the worst policies that Wall Street has to offer. I call them Wall Street's "Plan A." And in case anyone's been confused, the Democrats are merely Wall Street's "Plan B."

Campaign Finance Reform Now.

I'll vote for Prisoner President Obama if it comes down to Plan A vs. Plan B. I hope Obama goes rogue. But it's HIGHLY unlikely, and the "Deficit Doves" will continuously fumble the football so long as they are given the ball.

Only the good folks at the "Deficit Owl" Economics Department of the University of Missouri at Kansas City can save us now.

90% of the American people could be said to disagree with their positions, considering polling data on concern for the deficit and national debt, and public support for deficit reduction, tax increases, and austerity measures.
................
But whatever the differences in the broad left:
If Wall Street competes for control of both parties, why don't we?

We're beyond Democrats and Republicans now.
This is America vs Oligarchical Socialism.
Progressives are emerging across the old party lines.
There's a weird unity out there that goes beyond what used to divide traditional left-right camps.

Occupy Everything.

Pres Kaboom: You said if Wall Street competes for control of both parties, then why don't we? WHO IS WE?  I don't quite understand.--- Is it we the people?  Or we the 99%?  Or we the patriots & the occupiers?  Please clarify that statement, since it may have some intriguing aspects.  Yet it's probably doomed at the beginning. The only way to infiltrate the GOP is to act like and talk like them, & that is nearly impossible for fully sentient human beings : )  If you could imitate a retarded criminal really well, you might have a chance: ) Try for a mixture of the 3 stooges & the "Godfather" Corlioni family.
Good Grief, they already exist !! (Marvin, Jeb, George, Neil, & Junior) -- the Shrub Family: )

Um, my title is "El Prezidente" and it was given to me by undocumented workers who I used to work with. I take this very seriously. It is my Charge to Keep. It is my cause to liberate the chains that bind them and their families to a system that exploits and abuses them. Quasi-slavery must end on this continent.
..........
Schmidt can attest to the bewildering nature of my unorthodox approach to politics.

I just think our country has big problems. And I'm thinking outside of myself. Kaboom is changing. Been changing. Always changing.

Right now: I see my place at Buddy Roemer's side fighting for what's right.

CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

This is how we fight the Big Darkness. Get with it.

Yes, I can attest to El Prezidente's critical thinking skills, but I won't call them unorthodox. More like "out-of-the-box" thinking, always challenging the status quo.  He has forced me to think differently on a host of issues, most recently Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) for which I still owe him a response to his last posting on that topic. I'm still pondering it. Note, I've called you Kaboom in my other postings and you haven't objected.

But getting back to the state of our country, it is indeed a mess, and for many of us it is easy to cherry pick at an issue here or another issue there as the principle causes of our problems, but they are all usually "band-aid solutions" on a complex global situation that cannot be looked at in isolation as a USA problem.  The economic/political/military dynamics are globally intertwined and are constantly changing...evolving if you like that word.  The USA can no longer look at just American solutions to just about anything.  If Italy or Spain have economic problems, it affects us.  What China and India do, affects us.

For us "seniors" we have a longer lifetime to have experienced much of that change and can relate to it.  I often talk about how great and good life was back in the 50s and 60s of my youth, although by today's standards we might have been considered poor. We are all captives of our own experiences, but we need to understand that change happens, and we should seek to accept and understand good change, and not always yearn for what has passed.  Carving out a path to the future is considerably more difficult.

In my retirement, I've spent time reading history and the differences in political systems, and especially what causes civil unrest and revolutions and wars. Why do some political systems fail while others survive? I've read about the Russian revolution and how it led to communism and then how communism failed in the Soviet Union.  If I were to pick out one word that causes kings or states or political/economic systems to fail, it is greed.  Any political system is only as good as our elected representatives, but when they put greed and temptation ahead of the country, then they are embarking on a course to fail.  That may take years or decades or maybe even centuries, but if our elected reps consistently put their own interests ahead of the country, then over time our system will slowly be eroded, public confidence in our govenment will wane and we will be on a course of self destruction unless some event causes a massive course correction.

So El Prezidente is right to pick out and support Buddy Roemer, not necessarily for the man, but for what he stands for...campaign finance reform...or more bluntly what money and greed have done to our democracy.  That fact that Roemer isn't even allowed on the stage to debate the others on this issue is crazy, but now I see where Jon Huntsman has also been bumped from the Iowa debates. Why?

It is all a big money game and I am sick and tired of playing that game. I have contributed money to various politicians (mostly Obama) in the past, but now we seem to be in an endless game, fueled by the Citizen's United ruling, of who can raise the most money.  The cable news networks go "wow" when they release the latest  money raising numbers of candidates.  That "wow" translates into cable news and networks CEOs smacking their lips as they know full well that a chunk of that money will be spent on buying mindless TV adds attacking opponents and that have zero intellectual appeal. It is greed and they promote and play the game for profit. The dumbing down of America.

So if we were to cherry pick a solution of where to begin to make a course correction, campaign finance reform embodied within a 28th Amendment to the Constitution is a very good start. We need to take the money out of politics. But it is not sequential...other intiatives that we have talked about in this website must also be addressed in parallel, including reducing the cost and size of our massive military industrial complex that buys us little good will in the global political arena.

And of course, Wall Street and banker greed. The OWS is real...grass roots. The bankers and other financial institutions should get out of their box and read about what actually caused the Russian revolution.

I wasn't really offended. You can call me whatever you want. "President Kaboom" is just not accurate. It's "El Prezidente". I do take it seriously. It's what 15 something undocumented cooks and bus boys started calling me, when I communicated to them my views on immigration reform and immigrant rights.

No offense meant to Victoria. And I really regret sounding so snotty.
..............
Call me a dissident hold-out. You want my vote? Support Campaign Finance Reform. And Good Government Reform.

The time is now.

We don't just want "Change." We want Reform.

The President has gone Dark Knight, so have I.

Call me a Progressive-Conservative if it satisfies the label machine.

My "bleeding-heart liberalism" and concern for the well being of others is completely compatible with limited government, federalism, and the natural liberties of the individual proper.
..............

I've suffered from convention long enough. And I'm not holding anything back anymore for sake of partisan loyalties. There are things in politics that I want done that require unconventional alliances.

Buddy Roemer 2012.
The Last "Republican" left.

Slay the Dragon.
End the Big Darkness.
Campaign Finance Reform Now!!!!!!!!!!
