Rep. Georgia Governor Nathan Deal supports Newt Gingrich. That being said, I already do not like this guy. But hey, I'll look past that. Not knowing much more about the newly elected Republican governor, I looked him up. Apparently, he agrees with Gingrich on most all issues. All but one here lately: immigration.
Gingrich is surprisingly understanding on this issue saying, "I don't see how the party that says it's the party of the family is going to adopt an immigration policy which destroys families that have been here a quarter-century." He said this during a recent GOP debate while asked about his thoughts on amnesty, and is receiving a fair amount of backlash for saying it.
Gov. Deal's spokesman Brian Robinson told The Associated Press on Wednesday, "Governor Deal would oppose any amnesty for those who have been in the country illegally, regardless of how long they have been here." Deal remains supportive of Gingrich also saying, "No one is going to agree with someone else 100 percent of the time."
I'm surprised at Gingrich on this one. And confused at Gov. Deal; how can you be for Gingrich and chose this topic to disagree with him? What do you think, anyone know anything about this Gov. Deal?
