During an interview on Sean Hannity, Mitt Romney was asked about who he wanted as a potential VP if he were elected. He said there was about 15 names he had in mind, but he specifically mentioned Kelly Ayotte, the Senator from New Hampshire.
Anyone know anything about her? Is she a viable option or just Romney looking for a news slot to keep his campaign fresh?

Kelly Ayotte is an unknown amongst voters outside of New Hampshire, but so was Sarah Palin when she was selected as McCain's running mate. According to her
Wikipedia profile
, Ayotte is:
Now serving as New Hampshire junior senator from New Hampshire
During her 2010 Senate campaign, she was endorsed by John McCain, Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Haley Barbour, and Rick Santorum
Graduate of Villanova University School of Law
Served as New Hampshire Attorney General
Was highly criticized for refusal to investigate charges against mortgage investment firm Financial Resources Mortgage (FRM)
Republican candidate for governor, John Stephen has said that Ayotte "has to be held accountable" for her and the New Hampshire Department of Justice's failure to act on complaints received
43 year old Roman Catholic
Opposes abortions except in the case of rape or incest or health of the mother
Opposes same sex marriage and adoption by same sex couples
Opposes the Employee Free Choice Act and opposes any increase in the minimum wage
Supports Arizona SB 1070, Arizona's anti-illegal immigration law passed in 2010
Has pledged to sponsor and support legislation to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act ("ObamaCare")
Favors passage of a Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
Opposed to TARP and the Stimulus bills
Opposed passage of the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and the Consumer Protection Act
Supports the Ryan Budget Plan
Supports the extension of the Bush tax cuts
Supports the permanent elimination of all estate taxes
Supports an immediate cut in payroll tax rates
Supports cutting taxes for all corporations
Supports cuts in capital gains taxes
Supports reducing tax rates for small business owners who file individual income tax returns
Supports a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan
In other words, she sounds like she has solid Republican credentials, backed up with endorsements from both Sarah Palin and Rick Santorum...she should pass muster with the evangelicals.
Most importantly, she was endorsed by Mitt Romney in 2010, and unlike the other slate of candidates that have had major disagreements with Mitt Romney on issues, she has a clean slate.
I agree that she would be near the top of the list of potential candidates. However, she hasn't been vetted very carefully...at least not yet.
