(sorry if this is going into the wrong forum, mods please feel free to move or correct)

Rabblevox here, real name Richard, a middle-aged lefty Dem. from Portland. I've been looking for a place that might be more intelligent and less divisive than Democratic Underground, and after lurking here for a few days, this place looks like it has potential.

I'll probably continue to lurk more than I post for awhile, I know that I can be an opinionated old fart at times, and I'm not looking for a place to fight, but I can be a bulldog about a few issues, including:

The Occupy movement. It's a watershed in American democracy. We ignore it at our peril.

LGBTQ, Women's, and minority rights. Unless everyone has equal rights, no one really has rights.

The Police State and the Patriot Act: One of the most shameful, self-destructive chapters in American history, and I call shame on the Democrats who went along because of cowardice or greed.

A repeal of corporate person-hood, and honest top-to-bottom campaign finance reform. The twin lies that corporations equal people, and that money equals speech have done more towards killing the American Dream than everything else put together.

A strong bias towards trying to elect progressive Democrats over centrist ones, and any Democrat over any Repub.

So anyway, that's my 2c and I'm sticking to it.

Rabblevox...I think you found a home,you'll fit right in here.Your views on what you feel strongly about will dovetail nicely with a lot of us.Unlike other forums though,we don't exclude the right wing,just for being right wing.Only if they get racist,abusive,or what have you. WELCOME!!
