If unthinking people could just break their authoritarianism for just a moment, and understand that war isn't about protecting rights of women, or our safety. We had enough information to have stopped 9/11, but we didn't.
War is about making money, for a very few people and corporations. It is the most disgusting thing, to hear super-committee members talk about how difficult it is to cut the budget, and how the rich, who profit mightily from war, don't want to accept a huge tax increase necessary to fight wars for corporations. It is the one single thing, besides tax cuts to the wealthy, that created our debt, and peace, and maintaining a minimal force, are the two things we need to do, to fix our deficit.
The total military spending is now about 1.2 Trillion. Between agressive operations, attacks in the world, and HS, taking care of injured and killed people, maintaining 800 or so bases in the world, we spend way more than the official 600 Billion. Don't buy the illusion that it is about protecting us, as with each attack, we further endanger ourselves, make more enemies, and assure more destruction in the future.
It is hilarious that the super-committee are guffawing at a mere 60 Billion a year in cuts, when we spend so much, that amount is like a flea on a dog. Besides tax cuts for the rich, clearly the DOD budget is responsible for our debt, all of it. It isn't SS, or Medicare, or Medicaid, or Welfare. It is corporations trying to aquire more wealth, through war itself, and stealing resources for corporations, like oil, or minerals. Sometimes it's about something as simple as a new base, or a location, geography.
You must view every bit of information you've been given in your life as a possible, even probable lie, when it comes to policy, and learn to think for yourself, and follow the money, and understand it is directing everything.
