"If we re-elect Barack Obama, Iran will have a nuclear weapon. And if you elect Mitt Romney, Iran will not have a nuclear weapon," said Mitt Romney at the CBS Republican Presidential debate.

The Iranians must be shaking in their boots at this tough guy talk.

I wonder just what Mitt Romney would do that hasn't been already applied.  While Romney is pandering to Republican right wing hawks,  Obama is continuing to use diplomacy, working quietly behind the scenes to exert more economic pressure on Iran seeking the help of both China and Russia.

So just how would Romney go about fulfilling his guarantee that Iran would not have a nuclear weapon? Bomb, bomb, bomb, Iran?

Is Iran even a threat? Iran in the past 2,000 years has never invaded or occupied any other country.  Not Iraq, not Afghanistan, not Pakistan, not Turkey...none of their neighbors or any other countries worldwide.  On the other hand, they have been attacked not only by Saddam Hussein, but also had their democratically elected Prime Minister overthrown in a 1953 CIA orchestrated coup.

Iran is just the next country in line for right wing fear mongering to keep feeding the enormous military-industrial complex of the United States of America after Iraq and Afghanistan wind down. We need to feed the beast...to differentiate it from the "starve the beast" rhetoric that right wingers like to apply to our social programs.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed" -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
