I hope and pray that people really look and investigate what the Republicans would do to this country if they gain power. They would destroy this country for eveyone but the rich. They are doing nothing to improve the country, in fact they are doing just one thing; making sure that Obama doesn't get a second term, what a bunch of crap they all shbould be treid and hung. People need to stop watching the fox channel, I mean the repluplican channel, because they are being told lies and the stupid people actually believe what they are being told (poor dumb bastards). Everyone that wants to see this country pull out of this recession The Dems and Independents better get out and compaign for the democratic party or if you want to look at it a different way, get the worthless republicans out of office (all of them). Everyone blames Obama for the problems, the President can only do what the congress allows him to do and since the Replubicans are a bunch of do nothings worthless bums, you need to insure that the Dems win!! Trust me, yoiu do not want to know what the alternative will do to all of us, I say throw the Republicans out of politics!!!!

Telk, a agree on many of your points, especially were views on Fox News. I think Fox News and of course others like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are a cancer on our society, slowing conditioning people to hate, not only Obama, but our government. They engage in a culture war to distract the populace from the real issues of the day. It's not just the right wing media, but also Congress. How many times will the House bring up anti-abortion legislation this year? According to Rachel Maddow, she counts seven times so far this year. But absolutely not one piece of legislation to promote jobs.
You are also right about the Dems needing to get out and register and vote. I've written in other posts, that it is not the Republicans that are electing all these crazy Koch brother controlled Tea Party surrogates, but rather the stay-at-home liberals that can't be bothered to even register to vote or vote on election day. It is the non-voters and apathy in Florida and Tennessee that elected George W. Bush in 2000 and set the country on a course for the ultimate disaster...a course that had its beginning under Reagan.
And in my mind the biggest legacy that Bush left us is not the two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but rather his two nominations to the Supreme Court, which will continue to ensure 5-4 rulings in favor of corporations and against the poor and middle class until this country as we know fully becomes a corporate fascist state.

Next Week,
I will be engaging in a diplomatic peace mission on behalf of Occupy Dallas to meet with Tea Party groups around the DFW area.
I intend to make allies out of our detractors/enemies; one by one, if I have to.
Charm, persuasion, patriotisim, piety, virtue, moderation, facts, passion, and honesty will be my tools.
I believe that we will find common ground on Campaign Finance Reform + an End to Corporate Kleptocracy.
I believe that I am the right man for this mission.
The partisan politics has got to stop.

Kaboom, I commend you. You are embarking on a mission that has doomed many of us to failure in trying to do same thing. The biggest hurdle you have to overcome is to get people to think. Conservatives have done a masterful job in programming their followers on "what to think" rather than "how to think."
Be prepared to hear the Fox News platitudes in responses as you try to make inroads to reason. I think you can actually make progress if you keep to individual issues without bringing up what the liberal view is or what Obama's view is. As soon as you mention those views, you will turn off their minds. They revert to the humanoid responses of the Star Trek Borg...in other words, they have completely succumbed to "resistance is futile." Ha! I laugh but it is no joke.
The Star Trek Borg analogy is what I ascribe to the Top 1 percent and their surrogates. Those 99 percenters that have ignorantly attached their future to the Top 1 percent line of BS are void of critical thinking skills. For many of them, of course, it is abortion and gay marriage issues that completely controls their thinking. Those basket cases would readily vote for no taxes for the rich, no social security, no medicare, no public schools, etc. as long as they could have abortion outlawed from the land forever.
That's the dogmatic thinking that you have to overcome. If you can't get past the religious ideology, you cannot begin to reason with the pros and cons of the issues of the day. They may even agree with you on many of the issues, but still obediently vote Republican, much like
the poorest county in America, in the Great Plains of Kansas, that votes over 80 percent Republican
(as Thomas Frank writes in his book,
What's the Matter with Kansas
).
Good luck to you Kaboom. You don't need advice from me. I hope you succeed in turning even a few. If more people took action like you, we would be a better country. I'll do my part again, closer to the elections, manning phone banks and knocking on doors. The most urgent task at hand is to get young Democratic thinking people to register to vote...and then vote. Republicans fear that the most and that's why they are trying to disenfranchise voters across the land with phony voter fraud campaigns that make it extremely difficult for some demographics to cast their votes.
