Indiana Governor (R) Mitch Daniels says that he is considering running for a higher office. He is not, however, interested in running for President. More like Vice President. Does anyone know anything about this guy? Would this be a likely move for him?

In 2004 as a candidate, and again in 2006 as governor, Daniels told union groups he would not pursue "right to work"... This year, in Daniels' last legislative session as governor, he has made its passage his top legislative priority.Mary Beth Schneider. Indianapolis Star.
When Mitch was running for his first term as Governor he gave as one of his goals ending the problem of time zones in Indiana. You see, a few counties in the north west and a few in the south west parts of the state were on Central time and the rest of the state was on Eastern time. The Eastern time portion of the state did not observe Daylight Saving Time and the Central time portion did. As a result it was the same time in the entire state for part of the year although the state still had two time zones. Confusing isn't it?
Mitch said he would put the entire state on the same time, and he did. He now has the whole state on Daylight Saving Time. Most of the state is still on Eastern time and the rest is still on Central time, but by God and Mitch Daniels the time question is settled(according to Mitch). Of course now it is never the same time in the entire state and everyone has to adjust their clocks twice a year. Most of us liked it better the way it was B.M.(before Mitch).
He has pulled a few other boners, like leasing the Indiana Toll Road to a group from Australia for, I think it is, 150 years. Good Lord, we only leased the Panama Canal for 99 years and gave it back early, and we built the damned thing. While affluent Hoosiers think this guy is the best thing since banking deregulation most of us who think at all wish he was already in Washington. Or New York. Or B.F. Egypt. Anywhere but Indiana.

Thank you Arydale for telling us the ITR is owned the Australians. I use it frequently
when driving between Maryland and Wisconsin. I had heard a Chinese firm were the new owners. I feel better about the Aussies.

Mitch Daniels pitching for Vice President is like an NFL football player saying he aspires to be a back-up quarterback. How did Peyton Manning's back-up fare this season?
