Rick Perry, Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann, just to name a few GOP talking heads I've heard recently, our coming out strongly against the EPA (The Environmental Protection Agency). They claim that it is a "job killer" and needs to be deregulated so corporations can stop coming up against walls of bureaucracy, so that they can do business to stimulate the economy.

I do not understand this. Granted, if there is a certain regulation that is obviously not necessary, I would agree to amend or even deregulate some of the mandates. But, the way these people say it, they want to completely get rid of the EPA. Sounds insane to me. Shouldn't it be inherent that we need some sort of agency to protect the environment against corporate's greed?

Basically, I'm saying corporations are out to make money. Lots of it. And, they have no real motivation to consider the environmental impacts of their actions. Usually, being "environmentally friendly" is just more expensive and time consuming. Republicans, in this respect maybe more than any other, you scare me. Always out for the quick fix. Playing politics. What are we going to do when its all gone, depleted, destroyed? I guess that's a problem for another generation, as long as the unemployment percentage of America for the time being is lowered. So simple minded.

There are a few absurd regulations enforced by the EPA, but to abolish it completely would be terrible. I would be for some select amendments.

Odd how it was established by a Republican President and now they don't want it anymore.
