Speaking at an event in Greenville, South Carolina today, Michele Bachmann made this promise:

"The day that the president became president gasoline was $1.79 a gallon. Look at what it is today. Under President Bachmann, you will see gasoline come down below $2 a gallon again. That will happen.”

So how will Bachmann accomplish this goal since prices are averaging $3.58 now according to the AAA?  Four choices below.  Ideas?

a) Drill baby drill...

According to a 2010 report by a division of the Department of Energy, opening the entire outer continental shelf to offshore drilling would have very little impact on the price of gasoline.

b) Nationalize the oil companies.

Hugo Chavez did that with lots of consumer goods and it created massive shortages.

c) Pray.

Rick Perry tried that in Texas...praying for rain...and it didn't do any good.

d) Who cares...as long as the Tea Party and other gullible voters believe it.

c and d, probably. This is an impossible promise to make and keep. She knows that. Its wishful thinking, at best. Or delusional thinking... The president does not have that much pull. People put too much pressure on the president, unfairly most of the time. Gas prices, come on now? I know that nowadays we rely heavily on the government to regulate EVERYTHING but come on now..thats just ridiculous.

It's just another lie,  once she is in office you can't impeach her just because she lied-it's par for the course.  We are continuiously subjected to the same stratagies, they lie to us, we elect them because we are too lazy to check their records and positions on the issues.  We are too lazy to do a little research and scrutanize their credibility before we give them our vote.
