From the DesMoines Register and Climate Progress: Quoting Michele Bachmann from Cedar Rapids, Iowa:

“I pledge to you I’m not a talker. I’m a doer,...And I guarantee you the EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) will have doors locked and lights turned off and they will only be about conservation,” she said earlier today at a campaign stop in Cedar Rapids. “It will be a new day and a new sheriff in Washington, D.C.”

Now as I have reported in other threads, the EPA was created by Richard Nixon and has been one of the signature achievements of the Republicans. It's list of accomplishments in protecting our environment is simply outstanding.

But Michele Bachmann is a Tea Party darling and the Tea Party is funded by Americans for Prosperity which in turn is a Koch Brothers funded organization.

The Koch brothers of course run a vast oil, gas and chemical operation and they are dead against any kind of pollution or cap and trade legislation that might impact their profits.  That's why they hijacked the Tea Party movement early on and redirected its efforts against any Climate Change intiatives.

Michele Bachmann is either a surrogate for the Koch brothers or the most ignorant politician in Washington if she thinks "turning ot the lights" on the EPA  is consistent with her brand of "American values."

I should have added that Michele Bachmann is not alone.  A large majority of Republicans have jumped on the Koch brothers band wagon to denounce EPA regulations and their effect on corporate profits.  From the Statesman:

"Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota wants to padlock the EPA's doors, as does former Speaker Newt Gingrich. Gov. Rick Perry wants an immediate moratorium on all environmental regulation.

Rep. Ron Paul of Texas wants environmental disputes settled by the states or the courts. Herman Cain, a businessman, wants to put many environmental regulations in the hands of an independent commission that includes oil and gas executives. Jon Huntsman, the former Utah governor, thinks most new environmental regulations should be shelved until the economy improves."

So whenever I read this ignorant anti-environmental stuff spewing from the mouths of Republican candidates for Congress and the Presidency, I like to show them the alternative...photos of pollution in China.  This is a different set of photos from what I posted in another thread.

Is this what Michele Bachmann and other Republicans want?
