On Monday, Coburn proposed his own plan of cutting the deficit by $9 trillion over the next decade. On Tuesday, the Gang of Six, which Coburn is a member again of, proposed a cut of roughly $3.7 trillion. Details here:
Gang of Six back from the brink
Coburn's deal is detailed. The Gang of Six's, not so much. However, Obama is backing the gang's proposal, saying that it's inline with what he had in mind since the beginning of the debates.
Which are you more in favor of? With all these proposals, and lack of real content, its hard for me to discern what truly makes sense and what does not. Someone enlighten me. :)

Any cuts in government spending now will result in loss of jobs. So Republicans want to move as many spending cuts into 2011 and 2012 so that the job picture remains dismal leading into the election. The Republicans number one goal is to make Obama a one term president, and their ticket for doing that is to oppose any legislation that supports jobs growth while at the same time demand as many spending cuts as possible to ensure more job losses. This has been the Republican strategy from the get go...from January 2009 as soon as Obama took office. Keep the unemployment rate high...whatever it takes.
The debt ceiling debate is another in a long line of manufactured wedge issues designed to detract Congress from having to take any action to stimulate employment. High unemployment will be blamed on Obama.
