Just want to get my voice out...even if not no one sees, listens, or reads this. It makes me feel better.
Bob Schieffer has it right on so many levels. Let me point something out I see from my middle class window. People losing jobs, can't pay any bills (including mortgage) & homeless. Constant increase in taxes (local & federal), higher prices in gas, food, etc. Families & single people cutting expenses every way possible. I don't see officials (local or US government) cutting their personal spending or extra perks they receive. Why can someone retire at 50 yrs old, get top dollar (w/many,many benefits) forever & pay nothing or very little for health insurance and could still pick up a "side" job making top dollar. Our education dept & local/federal governmants have been doing it for years. Why? The cities, states and US have to pay these salaries. Administrators in our Education system receiving multiple pensions. Multiple offices for each official paid for by our taxes. Excess flying in private planes. Unlimited expense accounts. Drug companies have reduced their spending for representives. Let the officials pay something towards health insurance. Anything would be helpful. Bottom line, raising taxes & cutting programs for the elderly or handicap is not they way to save our debt crisis. If an official has to worry about the lobbyist & their election to make a decision, then they should not have been elected in the first place! They are not for the people. They are part of a growing problem where politicians want to know "what's in it for me". A very selfish perspective. I can't say I have all the answers. But, I had trusted that the people elected in high positions of power would make smart decisions for
all
the people. I have been proven wrong time & time again. It is exhausting, frustrating & very stressful. I am sure
not one
elected official (local or federal) has had a reduction in salary, a car repossed or their home in forcloser. I have and am. The time has come to make a
real
change & not a promiss.
I have been posting on the site: White House Voice. I sent the above paragraph to TV stations, local newspapers, local & federal politicians & some of my friends.
I am worried that I don't know who or what will reach the breaking point first: the People or the United States.
