Boehner's plan seems to be dead in the water. Can Reid do anything?

Boehner's debt ceiling bill was pulled from the floor today. Reid has proposed a plan that is estimated to reduce spending by 3 times as much as Boehner's.
Reid is reaching across the aisle too. His plan doesn't involve any kind of tax increases. A huge concession if you ask me. It seems to focus on winding down the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I feel the Tea Party will eventually find something that infringes on there right to eat oranges, or something equally ridiculous. But until then, does this bill seem like a viable option, or at the very least, a more viable option?
