On "Meet The Press", Newt Gingrich was asked about Paul Ryan's proposal for healthcare reform. Gingrich actually came out in opposition saying, "I don't think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering. I don't think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate."

And I tend to agree with that. Kind of surprising as well. Gingrich openly coming out and opposing the Republican base that way. Ballsy.

Unfortunately, that was all smoke and mirrors. As soon as he started getting heat from the GOP, he quickly, very very quickly retracted his statement in ridiculous style saying:

"I want to make sure every House Republican is protected from some kind of dishonest Democratic ad. So let me say on the record, any ad which quotes what I said on Sunday is a falsehood. Because I have said publicly those words were inaccurate and unfortunate and I’m prepared to stand up… When I make a mistake — and I’m going to on occassion — I want to share with the American people “that was a mistake” because that way we can have an honest conversation."

Newt Gingrich: ‘Any Ad Which Quotes What I Said On Sunday Is A Falsehood’

This guy is ridiculous.

The man is a walking contradiction every political vid I see of him he's retracting a statement. Does anyone remember that video of him sitting next to Nancy Pelosi were he clearly endorses Cap and Trade, only to come back and retract it and all the time while he was campaigning for "wholesome" American values and cheating on his wife. The guy embodies the stereotypical lying politician stereotype.

The strange thing is that Gingrich's campaign site mentions nothing about Ryan's budget plan. He may have changed his statement but he hasn't embraced Ryan's plan either.
