Donald Trump continues to stake out his positions on energy and other issues for a possible Presidential run. From the Huffington Post:

He said on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday that lowering the price of gas is as easy as telling OPEC's members to do so -- something he believes President Obama is incapable of.

"Trump also criticized Obama's handling of the conflict in Libya, saying the United States should just go in there and take the country's oil.

"Either I'd go in and take the oil or I don't go in at all," he said. "We can't be the policeman for the world."

So Just how much power does he think the United States has over OPEC? And to "just take Libya's oil," I don't know of any oil companies that are even advoacating that.  If he really believes that as an acceptable course of action, he is delusional.

I know this kind of rhetoric plays well with the far right.  It's the John Bolton type of neoconservative chest beating that serves the militants well. How anyone can take him seriously is beyond me, yet in Presidential candidate polls, at least one poll puts him tied for first with Huckabee.  Wow!

What do these poll numbers say about our country?  If he's not pushing the Birther movement, he's sounding like an ignorant imperialist. Will this become the new "American way" if he ever becomes President.  And I thought John "bomb, bomb, Iran" McCain was bad. Sheesh.

Don't you love claiming Donald Trump as an American?  He is beyond funny.  What I want
to know, is not his birth certificate, but what tax bracket is he in?  Could that be the reason
why he has so much money, money?
With all that money, why doesn't he do something worthwhile, like helping send supplies
to the tornado areas, plus a dozen other areas, he should try to get positive publicity,
not appear as a clown.

Well atleast Trump is being honest...Why did Pres. Obama go into Libya?...to protect the civilians from slaughter plus khadafy was brining in Mercenaries to do his fighting...well Syria is kiliing/slaughtering civilians...Bahrain is bringing in troops from Suadi Arabia...and Yeman is killing civilians...why is Pres. Obama not bombing and going to war with those countries...is he a hypocrite?...does he lack a Leaders Foundation?...or is it oil?...

Maybe Trump is being truthfull...if we went into Libya to protect the people, we should be going in those other countries as well...if not then it must be for the oil, because Pres. Obama is not Like Former Pres. Bush is he...he wouldn't go into Libya just to get rid of the Crazy Leader would he...?  think about it...

President Obama is dammed if he does and dammed if he doesn't.  That doesn't mean he is
not a strong leader.  He weighs all the pros and cons.  I don't think he is a "war president"
like others in the past.  The U.S. can't go into all these countries and be the bully.  My
opinion is that we should pull out of all these wars, these countries have and will fight
forever, that is the only way they know to resolve their problems.  Unless we are being
directly threatened and there is fighting on our soil, guard our country, but not at the
expense of our military's lives and limbs on foreign soil.  Have you considered how much money
our war mongers make on a war?  It isn't just for the oil or to protect the innocent.
We need our military here, to protect our borders.  And one more thing, when the
drugs come into our country from Mexico, instead of stopping the shipment, trace
them to whoever is picking them up here and arrest them.  Just my opinion.

Exactly, not to mention the fact that this country has been infected with the virus of the imperial presidency and neoconservative foreign policy. We have to meddle in the affairs of ther countries, its been commonplace for near a half a century and it isn't likely change.

Why should Iraqi not donate oil to us for helping them take out Hussein.  I served there for a year saw plenty of people that just wanted to make an honest living and provide for their family.   The Iraqi Government is refusing to do the HARD RIGHT and take a stance against extremist that are killing their own people.  If Iraqi wants the U.S. to stay and fight the good fight, then we need some compensation or we must get out.  But you must remember that when we leave the Muslim brotherhood is going to take over and within a decade the US will be over there fighting another war.  In 1991 we were stopped from taking out the sadistic leader and in 2001, ten years later, we went back to finish the job.  Ten years after that we are still there.  Let’s take a Proactive stance and find a solution for this problem.  Do not forgot what happen on 9-11, started WWII, Cambodia after the US pulled out of Vietnam, and what will happen when the U.S. pulls out of Iraqi.   The U.S. is dependent on Oil and no one is trying to find a solution for this problem.  There are consequences for every action that we take, not only must we look to the short-term, but to the long term effects as well.  If gas prices jump to $5.00 a gallon how are you going to respond????

So the logical conclusion for the bloodshed in Iraq is to have them give us more oil, or better yet to maintain our occupation there just because of youjr inane logic about "staying the course" merely because to act contrary would mean defeat? There is no more luxury to be afforted with the term 'proactive stance", the only option left to accomplish is to assuage our losses and pull out before we waste another two trillion dollars fighting needlessly and placating our fear of turboned men for our own lack of infrastructure. There is so much doublethink in your post, for one if we would've transitioned to other energy sources gas would never be so expensive. With Peak oil rapidly approaching we can't afford anymore neocon excursions for black gold, and while I agree with you that Iraq should police themselves, we never had any business sending you or any troops there to begin with.
