This looks like a very good, content rich site. It will take me awhile to figure things out but it looks to be very much worth it.

You will find me to be a very logical person with a nuanced understanding of what is really happening to our country and world. I guess that makes me a liberal!

Welcome, Love to the Democratic Hub.  The website is still under development, but the forum feature has been up and running for some time. I probably share or vent my views more than anyone...it's therapeutic for me to write down my frustrations rather than talking harsh words to the television. Ha! Sometimes others take a different viewpoint and that's okay...I try to be open minded as long others do likewise.

I note you are from Madison.  The good working folks of Madison are leading the nation again in support of workers' rights. I stand with them. My former hometown (Butte, MT) has a rich history of the labor union movement and worker rights...violent at times. Sometimes our current generation takes for granted what they fought so hard for.

Hope you'll find time to share your views on issues.  A diversity of views and opinions is what contributes to our democracy. Sharing them means you have perhaps influenced someone else.

Thanks for the welcome, Frank. I look forward to this forum becoming as popular as my former hangout, Democratic Underground. DU is a great source for news, but the vitriol among some of the users there is a big turnoff. I'm trying to find a place that will treat people civily.

I will try to lead by example in that sense. Again, thank you for the welcome and here's to a long and glorious future for "the Hub".

Hi to just joined up- at least you made it this far. I can not figure out how to even make a post so I'm using this roundabout way. (administrator please take note). Also. since my monitor is not a new widescreen, I have to continually sroll left and right to read the screen. Enough to make me quit already.

Hi newcomers!

To create a new forum post, you can click on the Forum button on the top menu, select a topic, and there will be a "new thread" link above the forum posts on the right hand side.

Also, from any page (e.g. http://www.democratichub.com/rick-perry.aspx you can select "forum" from the sub-menu for the page (where it says: forum, ads, character, incompetence, quotes, articles, and updates) and you will have the same option for new thread.

Does that help?

I plan to release a new update to the website that should make adding new threads to the forum much easier to use & figure out for new as well as old members.

Currently, some of our forum categories are 'read only' and so are missing links to create new threads. But they are missing text explaining that the forum is read only.

The new version will have a new thread link that will be visible from anywhere in the forums.

Also, I plan to update\add more documentation on using the forums in the future.

We also plan to do an overall on the forum style\fonts to make everything look better.

One thing we're doing is constantly working to improve. So we're going to be getting user feedback and making things better through 2012 and beyond.

One feature we plan to release is an advanced member moderation feature designed specifically for political forums which can be contentious and emotional at times. So we would have community features which I would hope would encourage a more civil atmosphere. And flag posts or accounts for spreading misinformation or breaking other forum rules.

For example, there would be a member arbitration process with various stages as opposed to outright banning most accounts. This could include gentle reminders, to more stern warnings with temporary or permanent bans. There could also be a page for people to discuss and the person in question argue against a ban. Also, I may have something like an apology feature where a person in question can issue an apology in return for reducing action taken.

One fun example of this will be for crazy right-wingers who get their accounts flagged. We'd have features that will track\expose the crazy things they say in this arbitration process and force them to admit lies\etc or apologize to get their account reinstated.

So just some ideas & features we're thinking about for the future.
