There was a
lawsuit filed
in regards to Republicans not following proper procedures in passing a law.
But all this does is merely delay things as if it is overturned on a technicality then the Republicans could just re-vote properly.
Shouldn't the Democrats have waited? When the vote was being made, shouldn't the Democratic legislators have all huddled together and planned to not say anything about the procedural mistake instead of yell out in the meeting that it is not right?
They could have kept quiet and maybe nobody would have noticed the procedural mistake. Or if it was noticed, they could have done behind the scenes work to prevent it from being challenged in court while Republicans still have the power.
And then couldn't they have brought it up later when the Republicans no longer have a super majority? If they win the challenge in court now it means absolutely nothing. I was wondering if waiting could have made a difference?

Another consideration to throw into the mix is the current recall petitions underway of Wisconsin Senate Republicans who voted to squash collective bargaining. Public opinion polls have turned against them, and the recall program is moving full steam ahead. If a re-vote of the collective bargaining agreement comes up soon, it will be done in daylight with proper debate and cameras and lots of publicity. The Dems only need two more Republicans to change their vote (one voted with the Dems the first time around).
With the Wisconsin public opinion solidly against them, a few moderate Republicans might feel pressured to change their original vote. And if they don't it gives even further impetus to the recalls.
