Mark Seddon writing for the Tribune Magazine (United Kingdom) has written a perspective on Glenn Beck in his March 7th article, At the Beck and call of the rabid right.  The headline to the article is:

"Glenn Beck, perhaps Rupert Murdoch’s most notorious attack dog, is a threat to individual Americans in particular and American democracy in general."

Seddon observes that "Beck long ago crossed the professional line as any sort of reputable journalist or commentator. He is little more or less than a mouthpiece for Sarah Palin and the ridiculously misnamed Tea Party."

"There are his ranting warm-up spots for Palin, his wretched website, his lachrymose fumbling – almost with an onion in one hand and a handkerchief in the other, and the sort of lunacy demonstrated when he managed to conflate American trade unions with the Muslim Brotherhood. Sadly, the following is not made up. It comes from the foul mouth of Glenn Beck."

Seddon covers several other examples of Beck's "services to stupidity," but you should read the article to better appreciate these.

Seddon closes with, "Many Americans, including more moderate Republicans, ask what is happening to public discourse in their country. Why is it so full of hate? The answer lies with the likes of Glenn Beck – a ghastly, fascistic fool of a propagandist whom Rupert Murdoch is happy to employ and allow onto the airwaves. America needs to wake up before people like Beck and his ilk has it by the throat."

It would seem that Beck's brand of foolery has even caught the attention of the Brits.  And Mark Seddon is right on the mark with his observation that Beck is "a ghastly, fascistic fool of a propagandist."

Glenn Beck is bad for America...but its not really about what's good for America.  With Beck it's all about the money, and he sure makes a lot of money being bad for America. And Rupert Murdoch the union busting billionaire gives him the platform to be "unAmerican." This latter point is my opinion.
