The
Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports on March 10th
on the arrest of five people, including militia activist Schaeffer Cox for "allegedly conspiring to kill multiple Alaska State Troopers and a federal judge."
"The group had stockpiled weapons and conducted surveillance on the homes of two troopers, according to Alaska State Troopers. Some of the weapons known to be in the cache are prohibited by state or federal law, according to troopers."
The leader of the group, Schaeffer Cox, is also a "leader of the Alaska Peacemakers Militia and the Second Amendment Task Force. He has helped organize multiple gun-rights and personal freedoms rallies, including the 2009 “Freedom Fest” at the Carlson Center. Cox is a member of a “Liberty Bell network,” which sends out mass notifications to assemble a crowd of witnesses when a member believes his or her rights are being violated."
Cox is also a member of the
Sovereign Citizens Movement
and claims that the Alaska Court System is a for-profit corporation with no authority over him. The FBI considers the Sovereign Citizen Movement as a domestic terrorism group.
So why hasn't this news made headlines across the USA? If these were Muslims, Fox News would be headlining them every hour.
Media Matters,
has however, picked it up.

The dark armies of fascism are gathering within our borders. This is Churchill Kaboom speaking...reporting with a healthy glass of scotch and a
"to victory"
cigar.
The list of domestic rightwing terrorists goes on and on.....and on. We are in an age of tumult and turmoil....and we will be lucky, at this point, if we make it out of the next decade without a nullification/secession crisis.
We are dealing with a psychopathic New Right. Concieved out of (ig)"noble lies," bursting out of high concentrated pockets of propoganda & fear....these
jackals
are all too ready to put their arsenals and militaristic infatuations to use.
There is an outright subculture of Jared Lee Loughner's in America today all just waiting to go off.
Democrats and Republicans have turned 180 degrees We are the true party of Lincoln, and we are in a political hot war with a neo-confederate/ fascist bloc. This is the Big Darkness: perpetual 1860.

The
Anchorage Daily News
revealed more details of the arrest. According to FBI "secretly recorded meetings", Francis "Schaeffer" Cox, the leader, had alledgedly told his fellow militia members, "I know you're ready to die, but you have to be ready to kill." Furthermore, "If he was arrested, two state targets would be "arrested" (kidnapped). If he was killed, two state targets would be killed. If his house was taken, two state target houses would be burned."
One of the other men arrested, Michael Anderson, accordiing to Cox, "wanted to kill cops in their homes at night by slipping in and out without anyone knowing, that Anderson wants to kill cops as a lone wolf and have people realize that there is a serial killer of cops on the loose at night."
These guys don't sound like the ordinary right wing hard liners. They fit the description of terrorists, except looking at their photos in the Anchorage Daily News, they don't fit the stereotype of the typical terrorist that Americans have been conditioned to fear...whether its a suspicious looking passenger on an airline or a group with headresses kneeling down to pray. They look like your neighbors in a typical white suburb.
Maybe Rep Peter King should investigate the characteristics of these guys and include them in his hearings. But that would enrage a big part of his constituents.
