The GOP Unleases a Horrifying Attack on Women,
February 8, 2011
Sarah Seltzer writes how the Republican Party wants to control women's bodies through passing of new laws. You should read the whole article. I extracted a few lines below:
"Republicans came to D.C. "and immediately started putting the government in charge of every single pregnancy in America," said Rachel Maddow on Tuesday night. "
"A Republican sponsored bill that would strip Planned Parenthood of
all
funding. This bill is no surprise coming on the heels of a coordinated right-wing attack on Planned Parenthood and a spate of nasty undercover videos by
discredited right-wing prankster
Lila Rose. But it would do a lot of damage to a lot of women..."
"One of the most egregious salvos in this war on women is the treatment of "rape" exceptions to a proposed abortion funding ban. A massive outcry arose when the phrase "forcible rape" appeared in the notorious H.R. 3 bill--essentially redefining "acceptable" rape using an arbitrary term. It was a nasty bit of work, allowing for rape exceptions only if was the "right kind of rape.""
"Another awful bill, H.R. 358 would allow emergency room and other hospital and health personnel to refuse emergency care rather than perform abortion procedures they disagree with."
It's surprsing to me how Republicans...the party of small government...wants "Big Government" to control every woman's body. You decide...

Well the American people bought the ticket, and this is the ride. Women will soon be stripped of all their rights; unmarried mothers will lose all tax benefits and entitlements; and dieing pregnant women who need an abortion to live will be left in the streets to expire like common street rats. NO means YES. This is the Reptile way. Did anyone expect something different?

Along the same lines, Jen Phillips of Mother Jones has published a February 23rd article,
Georgia Law Could Give Death Penalty for Miscarriages.
Quoting Phillips:
"Georgia State Rep. Bobby Franklin—who last year proposed making rape and domestic violence "victims" into "accusers"—has introduced a 10-page bill that would criminalize miscarriages and make abortion in Georgia completely illegal. Both miscarriages and abortions would be potentially
punishable by death:
any "prenatal murder" in the words of the bill, including "human involvement" in a miscarriage, would be a felony and carry a penalty of life in prison or death. Basically, it's everything an "pro-life" activist could want aside from making all women who've had abortions wear big red "A"s on their chests."
The proposed law is not likely to pass, but it further illustrates to what length some Republicans are going to control women's bodies. Note I said "some Republicans"...those that quote Biblical scripture as a justification for their actions. They are not few...
"Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." (Genesis 3:16)

ON THE SUBJECT OF ABORTION:
I guess you all have heard this saying:
"If men could get pregnant, abortion would become a sacrament."
But more seriously, There is only ONE place in the Bible which talks about the Death of an unborn Fetus.
It is in the OLD TESTAMENT: Exodus 21: 22 - 24
"If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no michief follow:
he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the
judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth,
hand for hand, foot for foot," WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
I have heard this passage described to me like this: "If 2 men got into a fight, and if they somehow crashed into a
pregnant woman, so that she loses the baby ---- then the man who caused the accident will have to pay the amount
laid upon him by the husband. and he shall pay whatever the judges determine. But if anything else (like the wife has
been hurt or has died), then the man who caused the accident will have to give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth,
hand for hand, and foot for foot."
In this interpretation, the death of the fetus is not considered a Murder, so the culprit only has to pay a few shekels to
the husband, in the amounts determined by the judge. BUT if the mother was seriously injured or killed, then the culprit
would have to pay for this crime with his own life, or his own eye, or his own tooth. This would mean that the death of a
fetus was not classified as a MURDER, so it should not be punished severely, BUT the death of the Mother would be an
actual Murder, so it would require the death penalty. (Now why would the death of a fetus not be a murder? Because the
unborn fetus is NOT YET CONSIDERED TO BE A LIFE). You can't kill something that is not alive.
This would tend to disprove the idea that "Life begins at conception."

I am from Houston but have lived in a rural community the past ten years. I have been absolutley shocked by the views in my community and the surrounding communities. I attended a town hall meeting in the closest city, Bryan, TX and was absolutely stunned by the callous, cold attitude towards others that did not tow the neo con, tea party party lines. There was so much hate, negativity, venom in that hall, I had to leave.
They scream, "...less government..." all the while working to impose MORE government. They do not want important regulations that will keep us safe. Yet, they scream about imposing their thoughts on how our country shall be governed, creating regulations.
I have always believed that diverse opinon, discussion and thoughts are key to this great country. Where has all of that gone? Sad, very sad.
