Its appalling to me that people this piece of **** can be in a position of authority. As a veteran myself I can assure you that what this "person" is saying has no real basis in reality. There are haters in the military just like in every other walk of life, but MOST of those serving or who have served take you for who you are as a person , not as a label. You HAVE to.... your life and the lives of your buddies/friends depend on it. When I was active duty I knew as well as everyone else in my platoon/company who was gay and who was straight. Well, mostly anyway...... I'm sure there were some so deep in the closet that it WAS hidden. What I am trying to say is gays have been serving for a long long time.

David Pakman's interview of the former Navy chaplin, Gordon Klingenschmitt can be shocking to many of us...especially so because his sentiments are shared by some 30 million Americans...the Christian right. Klingenschmitt's attitude and arguments about gays seemed rather incoherent to me...saying he's okay on the existing DADT policy, but then makes all the derogatory comments about gay lifestyles...and that gays should "not come out of the closet." Huh? Oh and that gays can be cured by embracing Jesus. Wow. I listened to the interview twice and still couldn't follow his logic.

The fact that Klingenschmitt was allowed to be a Navy chaplin with his far right warped Christian views is disturbing, but he is not the only one promoting Christianity in the military as we have seen in other recent news.

Yes it is a funny interview until you realize how serious he is...and that he is not alone. Hello James Inhofe.
