With President
Hu Jintao
of
China
here to talk about the US and China's relationship. He simply brings a message of Harmony. He is leaving his office soon and we are going to have another president and another China... Is this a strong message or simply a cop out?

I'm afraid it's all window dressing personally. I HOPE not but i am not optimistic. While China cannot be ignored ,for multiple reasons, any real change will have to come through shared priorities. We just do not have many of those either culturally, politically or historical. China WILL go through her "empire" phase just like any and all major states have. We can do what we can to alleviate the worst of her excesses. Notice I said "can" not will. Theres too many people making too much money off of China for us to be particularly noble. Besides, we owe China way too much money thanks to our OWN wastefulness and belligerence to say anything too unpalatable to them. We,the people, have been sold out.
