It's no surprise, anymore, when we hear of kids being arrested for ploting together on facebook to do something illegal. See
article
. However, my question is is this really so new? Didn't all these ideas happen before facebook exisited? Does social media increase the risk of not only getting caught but creating a stronger chance that these ideas are actually carried out...

I don't think Facebook had anything to do with it. If not Facebook, then it would have been Myspace. If not Myspace, then Livejournal. If not Livejournal, text messaging. If not that, then notes would have been past back and forth through and after class. Kids use what they have. At least Facebook is online, mostly public and for anyone with a friend invite to see. On the other hand, applications like Facebook do make it much easier for something like this to happen. It's instantaneous communication from multiple devices that most teenagers today have (computers, laptops, smartphones). Any great invention can be used for bad. The internet is the best communication tool and resource of endless information the world has ever known. At the same time, More than 50% of all domains are porn sites. Yin and yang I guess.
