I found this poll and thought what do yall think?

Racism is still a shameful shortcoming of our society?

		Yes, racism still exists and detracts from the integrity of our society
		No, we've made enough progress that we can declare racism to be a sin of the past
		Yes and No, we've made a great deal of progress but still have quite a bit of room for improvement
		Yes and No, we've made a great deal of progress but social and economic inequality and injustice are inherent in the capitalism system and so we won't be able to completely abolish racism and classism until we abolish capitalism

For example, in Los Angeles County it is hard to get a job if you're white. Employers are given a thousand dollar tax break for hiring a minority. Also, affirmative action and quotas ignore your qualifications. In a tight economy, these things pretty much guarantee that you won't get a job if you're white. Yeah, racism goes both ways.

Dear Bev, I wish I lived in your part of the country1 I"m 49 years old and Puerto Rican American and I've never gotten special treatment ever! I've worked hard for everything I have. So Boo Hoo! Get over it!!

That is part of the rhetoric that"s bringing our country apart. All the terrorists have to do is sit back and watch us destroy ourselves! Now iis the time for us to unite as Americans, not bicker!

i live in utah i have worked all my life and i sure don't get special treatment and i am hispanic and i have never gotten nothing for free either i have always worked for it .
and i thank god i am alive and well as for my family the same so i don't believe there is special treatment.

People in general have historically short sighted, prejudiced, ignorant, self centered, and hostile. This is a remnant of our evolution from lesser pack animals. However, if you look at a time line, it took us MUCH longer to evolve an opposable thumb than it did to outlaw witch burning. We're making progress.

You want me to shed a tear for your lame comment, no I don't have to bother with that. Imbeciles that get riled up over the subject of race deserve their have no business making these sorts of comments. We are obviously all human beings, and if you get offended by a comment do the world a favor and grow a spine.

the greatest unwillingness part of racism, is no matter what race you are treat them as you want to be treated. the biggest problem is a lot of those crying racism they are more racist than those they are pointing at. for fact put your hand out in front of you and point, 1 finger is pointing away,BUT; there are 3 pointing back at you.This happened to me about 3 years ago; I was in a Black history parade dressed as a mascot, at the end of the parade I asked for some help getting out of the outfit from some ACLU people they said sure, I then took off the head when my face was reviled all 4 ACLU people turned to walk away, 1 woman saying oh no not me.I did not get any help getting out of that costume, and they say White people are RACIST they need to look in the mirror. Racism is used by the Black people to get attention in 99.99% of ALL cases. By the way I am of the Cherokee people of these United states of AMERICA. GOD BLESS AMERICA

I feel your pain...how do we do the right thing when it comes to racism? This economic blight has targete miniorties in large percentage then other groups. The unemployment rate for black is much higher then those of Whites and Latino. I live in Washington DC and unemployment for blacks in this city is 15% nation wide its 9,0% per cent of the population. You must continue to fight for fair and equal treatment for all...and life just aint easy or fair. I truly wish you the best....and you will success, because this is American and I fought for you and everybody else to have that fair chance...it just become a bit tuff.
