What kind of country does this to itself?
see:
Black Friday Madness....
Materialism has ruined not only Christmas but Thanksgiving!
And it's never going to be enough.
People stampeding into stores while millions starve?
Doomed generation. You bet. Doomed.

Well EPK...thanks. I admit to being a bit confused when I first started reading the
Battle of Evilmas
, but I soon separated the fictional El Prezidente Kaboom from the real EPK who writes daily in this website. What struck me though is how much we had forgotten about the "topics de jour" of just two years ago...your first hand accounts of events and the frustrations of the young people at that time come out clearly in your writings. It was a transformational time in our society...leaving the agony of the Bush years (the Lizard King) for the hope of the Obama Presidency. You have used the terms "reptiles" and "lizard beasts" in your forum posts as well as in the
Battle of Evimas
and although I don't normally like to denigrate or stereotype a segment of our society with such terms, they do in fact fit. I suppose I prefer the "f-word"...fascists. Ha!
Looking at the events and feelings of two years ago versus today, I am amazed and frustrated by how short sighted and easily manipulated the American public can be. Sure we will always have the Rush Limbaughs and Glenn Becks out there spreading falsehoods about the President and capitalizing on phony rage. Those right wing fringe types did the same to Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, although attacking Obama has been a real bonanza for their brand of capitalism. The endless attacks and falsehoods... mountains made of mole hills...the distortions of truth and the outright lies...that have been repeated over and over again, have had an effect on public opinion, and many even in the liberal community have become doubters. Their campaign of hate has been successful. It is indeed what fascist regimes do...history tells us that, but Americans don't care much about history.
And now there is so much revisionist history playing out in George Bush's book,
Decision Points
, and of course, Sarah Palin's two books, so it is refreshing to go back two years and read a snapshot of the events as they were happening. As I read
Evilmas
, I nodded my head in agreement on several points...yes. Of course, like you I don't condone the illegal activities of your fictional character, but it does depict some of the rage that people must have been feeling after eight years of the Bush Presidency.
Thanks.

Thanks Frank.
Check this out:
Right Wing Extremists and the Reptilian Brain
In regards to
The Battle Against Evilmas
...looking back....it's amazing we made it out of the 2000s alive.....
The Bush years were especially hard on me....at 17 years old and unable to vote, I was nevertheless aggressively pro-Al Gore in the 2000 election....I was against the Afghan and Iraq wars....And I still blame the Bush Admin. for 9/11
I cried my fucking heart out when the war-hero John Kerry lost in 2004...and I grew even more angry when I learned of the voter caging efforts by the Reptiles

Here's Bill Maher picking up on the bad vibrations of Christmas (i.e.
Evilmas
):
Maher's Christmas message for Oprah
.
I reject this maddening holiday and I dissent against all of it.
No, I'm not against the baby of Jesus, although I do happen to be an athiest.
What I'm against is spoiling children....and people being hurt or killed while stampeding into stores.....
I share the social conservatives contempt for secular society's excessive materialism....but the thing is, and this is where the conversation turns, they're sort of implicated in this degeneration, too! No amount of handwashing can remove the link between Christianity in America and Capitalism: they're frickin' married! And Protestants can't go blaming Saint Nicholas on the Catholics, when psychedelic reindeer, helmed by a fat man in a red suit are out on their lawns, too!
Strange Days,
Hope you can still have yourself a Merry
Little
Christmas,
Kaboom

Yeah...Christmas was great to have family and friends visiting. But you're right about the materialism...the
success
of Christmas each year is measured in sales and not in good deeds. The capitalists measure and grade it...Black Friday sales, day after Christmas sales, Super Saturday sales, Green Monday sales, Cyber sales...etc, etc. It's the real meaning of Christmas.
Okay, so some of this is really Christian tradition based on Biblical accounts of the three wisemen and gift giving. I can understand stand that, in part at least....but will someone explain to me the Christian significance of the Easter Bunny on Easter. I don't recall reading anything about that bunny in the Bible.
Okay, I'm being cynical...capitalists will find a way of profiting on any holiday. The President's Day in February is synonymous with mattress day sales and 4th of July with car sales...then we have Memorial Day sales and Labor Day sales and Veterans Day sales. And greeting cards and valentines and candy...and Halloween for adults...and Mothers Day and Fathers Day sales. Capitalism is alive and well.
