Do you think that there is a liberal media bias? Most people agree that Fox is conservative. Where does that leave MSNBC, CNN, ABC News, etc.?

When it comes to the mainstream media, the bias is for profits. Fox News often dictates what the"topic de jour" should be and all the other networks respond. Sensationalism attracts viewers and the more outrageous a politician or celebrity is, the more coverage he/she will get on all the mainstream media sites...both liberal and conservative.
I sometimes get disgusted when MSNBC drops all current coverage and focuses endless hours to someone or something that is blown way out of proportion as a newsworthy item. In that respect they are no different than Fox News. And outside of a few media types...Rachel Maddow and Fareed Zakaria to name a few, the talking heads on these stations do not have the depth of knowledge to carry on an intellectual discussion on a subject. Andria Mitchell on MSNBC is one that follows her script and often cannot ask the obvious follow up question.
So if you want an intellectual understanding of news and events, go to internet sites that have established themselves with a following. For a while I liked Huffington Post. I still do over the mainstream media, but even they are sensationalizing the headlines to get a few clicks. Often their headlines don't jive with the underlying story.
I prefer AlterNet, Common Dreams, TruthOut, TruthDig, Crooks and Liars, American Prospect, The Nation, Antiwar.com and Salon.com to name a few.
Having said that, I haven't heard much about the "balloon boy" in a while...and Lindsay Lohen. Maybe now that the political ads are off the air we'll see a resurgence of those kinds of stories.
My two bits worth of cynicism.

There is no liberal media that I know of. The country has turned conservative. The media is loaded with conservative talk show hosts.

There is most definitelty a media bias. I peruse a wide range of news sources from Fox News to NPR. The slants on the presentation of the news is the most telling. During the last election a search of Lexusnexus during that time showed that McCain and Hillary Clinton received less than 30% of the total news stories while Barack Obama received 70%. If that is not difinitive of media bias I cannot tell what is. Note the amount of money spent by the likes of George Soros on manipulating the media as well.

I couldn't find or access the Lexusnexus analysis that supports your claim. However, in looking at other sites that have claimed a liberal bias, one has to be careful on exactly what is being defined as liberal and what conservative. For some on the extreme right, everything to the left of them is liberal. Where do you draw the line? Is negative reporting on a candidate, even though factual, considered a liberal bias? There are lots of websites out there claiming a liberal bias and also many claiming a conservative bias. Take your pick.
And does the analysis take into consideration talk radio? For example a June 2007 joint study by the
Center for American Progress and the Free Press
found that news/talk format of 1,700 radio stations across the United States reach 50 million listerners each week.
Their findings showed that of the 257 news/talk stations owned by the top five commercial station, "91 percent of the total weekday talk radio programming is conservative, and 9 percent is progressive.
"Each weekday, 2,570 hours and 15 minutes of conservative talk are broadcast on these stations compared to 254 hours of progressive talk—10 times as much conservative talk as progressive talk.
"A separate analysis of all of the news/talk stations in the top 10 radio markets reveals that 76 percent of the programming in these markets is conservative and 24 percent is progressive, although programming is more balanced in markets such as New York and Chicago."
And then there is the "George Soros mania" of the far right. He is the
favorite target of Glenn Beck
and others who seek to demean everything about him...because he is liberal and rich. Conservative and rich is supposedly okay.

The old TV networks are biased and they filter the news avoiding anything that could be harmful to the democrats. AP is clearly biased just read the garbage the print. The best example is MSNBC and CNBC. These cable news stations are owned by GE. GE got a crap load of bailout money as if it was a bank which it is not. The CEO of GE Jeffery Imelt is Obamas job czar. GE Paid zero taxes. Then there is NPR which got millions from George Soros. The networks are calling the Tea Party terrorists while they call Islamic bombers freedom fighters. The flash mobs in Wissconson and Philadelphia are all blacks attacking whites. They are called youths. Get real this is a hate crime. Of course the media is biased thats why they are losing their audience and conservative radio and cable is growing
