This is for Coloradoans.  Several crazy amendments appear every two years on our ballot. But three this year are so incredulous that even traditional minded Republicans oppose them.  They are the Tea Party anti-tax Amendments 60 and 61 and Proposition 101. I won't go into all the details of what they contain, but you can read a brief synopsis in Yahoo Answers.  They are couched in deceptive language, but if voters indeed passed them it would be economoc suicide for Colorado...especially our school system which would be decimated.

How they got on the ballot in the first plaace is easily explained.  It's those people with clip boards and American flags standing in front of super markets, etc. asking you to sign a petition that sounds good, but the devil is in the details. No one reads the details when they have groceries in their cart. They just sign and go.

The Denver Daily News asked Tea Party candidate Ken Buck where he stands on the amendments and proposition.  A spokeperson for Buck said that since Buck would be representing Colorado on a federal level, he is not taking a position on state ballot initiatives. Why not come out and take a stand like other candidates for election?  Is it because he doesn't want Rachel Maddow and others pointing out what his views are on controversial matters affecting all Coloradoans?  Kind of like Sharron Angle not talking to media in Nevada.

However, Buck did take time to express his support for Amendment 62, which would "apply the term person as used in the sections of the Colorado Bill of Rights concerning inalienable rights, equality of justice, and due process of law to every human being from the beginning of the biological development of that human being."  I added the bolding.  There is no established  legal definition for "beginning of biological development."  Ken Buck is on the record opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest. He is quite comfortable with that position. Amendment 62 muddies those waters, but if he can slip through without media attention, just like those clip board toting patriots in front of super markets, then he'll take that gamble.

If these amendments pass it's a sorry day for Coloradoans. Why can't Ken Buck "buck up" and say so? His opponent Michael Bennet has.
