I thought I would lighten things up a little in the serious shadow of the Deep Horizon sinking with a list of some of the absurd ideas that have come to the surface to clean up the oil spill.

NUKE IT! Link. As far as absurd ideas go. This may have some sort of chance at working. Though what will actually happen cannot be predicted as it has bever been done undersea or with oil.

Get the sea drunk. Link: He later said that it was a metaphor, but Jon Stewart quipped about getting the ocean drunk enough to throw up all the oil.

Feel free to throw up some more silly solutions for the gulf spill

Sent BP a suggestion about stopping the flow of oil. Using a procedure similar angioplasty, an industrial balloon could be inserted hundreds of feet into the leaking wellhead. After inflation, concrete could be poured into the pipe thus sealing the well or significantly reducing the flow of oil. I'm a genius.

That one's not so silly, but the one I heard yesterday was:

"Let's just cut a hole in the tanker and sink it on top of the leak."

I couldn't help but laugh as I walked away.
