I thought I would start up a thread to discuss ideas for establishing energy independence.
I for one am an advocate for power the grid using nuclear power. While this would replace coal/oil power plants, it doesn't address the use of oil in cobustion engines such as cars. Hybrid engines have started down the long road to easing this dependency. What are some other good ideas for energy independence?

These are some of my views on the issue. I'm not sure how good the delivery is. I know that solar panels only convert 14% of potential energy into power right now. I believe that with time there will be increases in efficiency (some scientists are already suggesting methods for making output better). Nuclear power is another good alternative energy source. The problem of cars using fossil fuels is solved by converting completely to electric motors. This would mean charging the car which would definitely take more time than going to a gas station but at least we would be independent of Middle Eastern oil. Hope this has helped.

Move forward with the Keystone XL Pipeline.
