In some ways I am against capital punishment. After all, who are we to have the right to kill someone? I also worry about the fact that many people that are convicted are actually innocent. I do not want that on my hands.
Then there's the fact that capital punisment is, hopefully, a deterence to those who would do horrible actions. However, I believe that those people will still do what they want.
Last, I look at justice, does capital punishment serve justice? In the minds of some it is a closure to a horrible event of their lives and to others the death of the one that killed their child or friend will not help them.
I guess, if I could be 100% sure that the convicted was the murderer I would be for it. But for now, our justice system could be killing innocent people.
