Should the American Flag be banned in schools?

In light of the recent situation where on Cinco de Mayo, some children were punished for wearing the American Flag. Do you think the American Flag should be banned in schools? Why? Why not?

Personally, I believe that it is ridiculus for the American Flag to be banned in schools or anywhere. Our flag is one of our countries symbols that shows our patriotism. If we remove the flag from schools we are moving to an era where patriotism is not as strong as it once was. I understand that the world is becoming a smaller place. If we remove the flag, what does that say about us. It says that our flag is too controversial and as such our background is too controversial.  Keep the flag. Teach the history behind it.

Of course it should be banned we should not push our ideas on anyone.

Banning the American flag at public schools would be absurd. It's a representation of the country we live in. Its not forcing anyone's beliefs or ideas on anyone else, it is a symbol that represents the union of all these different cultures coming together to be free.
