So what are your thoughts and experiences being a Democrat living in Texas?

I think being a democrat in Texas is handleable as long as you surround yourself with the right people. It's not that I choose to only be friends with liberals, but by and large it seems that the more intelligent strata of the Texan population IS liberal. Within these circles we all join in at our disgust of Republican dirty politics and collectively hold our breathes as health care reform through Congress reaches its final stages. *Fingers crossed*

Let's also not forget that during the November Presidential election, Dallas went for Obama. I think it would be much more difficult to find like-minded people in less-cosmopolitan settings such as Lubbock and Amarillo. Overall, although being a Democrat in Texas is certainly uncommon, I think it's nice because it allows all of us minority members to band together!
