I mean, they must be lying on purpose to the pollster for political reasons, right? There can't be that many people who are this freaking stupid!!?? One poll I saw 28% said no and 30% said not sure.

Depends on the pollsters, the sample and how hard to get Obama plays with something that should be a matter of public information. Once you become the President, you should be responsible to the People, not the people of your party, not your friends, to ALL of the people. Even at that point, you could find a sample of the population that would believe that Obama came from Mars.
