What could possibly be the reasons for holding up Obama's
nomination of Tammy Duckworth
to be an assistant secretary at the Veterans Affairs Department? Duckworth is a major in the Illinois National Guard, lost both her legs and partial use of one arm in a rocket-propelled grenade attack in 2004. Her experience with veterans affaris since her injuries has made her highly qualified for the post.
So what are (were) Burr's motives?
Duckworth has since been approved.
