Vox: Trump’s “shithole countries” comment exposes the core of Trumpism

Just about all news agencies worldwide are reporting and commenting on Trump calling Haiti and other similar countries "shithole countries". Late night comedians are playing it up.

However, as the Vox article notes, the sheer racism of his comments would normally be shocking coming from any other president, but the terrifying thing is that it’s not the least bit surprising coming from Donald Trump. We just take it in stride and make jokes about it. Not so funny.

"Put even more bluntly, his talk about “shithole countries” is a perfect distillation of Trumpism. "Trumpism” is just the politics of white grievance."

And Trump continues to play to that base.

Zack Beauchamp's above article in Vox is worth reading, but for many on this website, we might ask what is new. Nothing that Trump says or does surprises us. It is his base of faithful "brown shirt" supporters who really worry me.

Yes Schmidt, I guess Drumpf forgets that his wife comes from one of those countries; Slovenia is not really an much better country than Haiti etc. They've got gypsy's who steal you blind as well lots of prostitutes of which one got married to Drumpf.

Again as with the "book", Europe and Asia got this message; thus those countries get an clearer picture by the day about our "stable genius" as President. The US will be seen as an "unstable", not to be trusted partner, and "third world country".

I look at it as an country, which will become more and more isolated as well more and more backwards compared to other developed countries, because it has become and "island" far away from civilization, with an mental incompetent leader as well antique laws, which block any improvement in leadership if these laws are not drastically amended to reflect an modern none corrupt society.

Don't forget we ourselves, because of this, have become a "shithole country" as well.

As of this morning, Trump is already denying that he said "shithole". Is that lie #2002?

I guarantee that a compilation of the worst parts of this country constitute a dreadful contrast to the richest economy in the world.

I guess the "richest" economy is China right now, we "owe" them bundles of money! Just look at the trade deficit.

Mr Durbin (D) confirmed this on a briefing this morning that he said it plus a lot of other nasty remarks. The other 6 GOP senators in that meeting kept their mouth shut; only Graham said something to the President that it was in-apropiat, but not in public.

Durbin was very clear in saying Trump said the shut hole remark and Durbin went on to say all the news accounts were accurate. Will Trump call Durbin a liar? Serious problems ahead.

    From m.huffpost.com :

“I cannot believe that in the history of the White House, in that Oval Office, any president has ever spoken the words that I personally heard our president speak

yesterday,” Durbin said. “You’ve seen the comments in the press. I’ve not read one of them that’s inaccurate.”

The crazy thing is that no one is surprised these words came out of Donald's mouth, but establishment Republicans are still criticizing him because they have to criticize him.

This is the same monster who said all Haitians have AIDS, lamented that Nigerians will never go back to their huts, and would be willing to bankrupt our country so long as he got his big, beautiful wall along our southern border.

We have a racist egomaniac as our President and he doesn't even try to hide it. The only thing we can't allow is for this shit to become normalized.

The ex-president of Mexico said the only "shithole" he knows is Drumpf mouth. I think he's got it right on.

Its just reinforces the many other racist comments he has made starting with birtherism when Obama announced he was running for president.

Not only trump call various countries shit holes, he asks "Why can't we get more people from Norway". Here is what his base heard: "Why are we allowing more fucking niiggers into this country, we got enough of them already, we need more people from white countries, not niigger countries"

Got to love Paul Ryan's response "It was an unfortunate comment". aka, the president wasn't being very polite. Wonder where the line is for Ryan and most of the republicans. Would he say the same thing if Trump said "Hey Paul, your wife is a fucking cunt". Would Ryan's say to the press "The president comment about my wife was unfortunate"....

Trump always plays to his base, but it also what Trump himself is thinking. I expect that it will help his donations for his next campaign. There are a lot of Americans who are also racists. He can deny that's what he said -- with a wink to his base -- but it is what it is. That's why he is so endeared by his base.
