Getting back to the "thread" about Moore. One thing what I did not see published is the total hypocrite attitude of the GOP as well Trump. People in the congress did have to resign for lesser things than Moore. Now the GOP wants to hire one who committed the same crimes instead. What is that? If you are in Congress it is not allowed, but if you solicit then everything is OK. What an strange world do we live in. Must be la la land.

It is not extremist to wish for extremists to be contained. One way is within the framework of the existing polity. Another way is to excise the tumor. And tumor is the correct word. The right is a cancer upon the country and the world.

I do agree trump politics as a cancer and I believe our country is strong enough to contain it. His base is small, but large enough that elected republicans fear trump and won't act against him.

There plenty of good people that are right of center who do not like trump and his cancerous base, just like there were Germans in the 30s-40s who did not care for Hitler\Nazis and worked to defeat them. Clearly there were many Germans who put their heads in the sand because the Nazis "Made the Germany Great Again" and they did not want to know about the details, or rationalized the inhumanity. That is why knowing\understanding history is important, otherwise it will repeat.

What I see is good about all that is happening is that its happening during a stable period of our history, and we elected a person that is very transparent in is inability to be an effective leader. He is a con man that pulled off one of the best con jobs in US history, and now it is very obvious how he got there, and we are stuck with him for a short period of time. I contend that his base did not get him elected, he was those he conned that elected him, and they now know they were burned.

Where I think you and I disagree is I believe this is a cancer that the Will Of The People will defeat quickly in less than 2 years. Your perspective appears that its a cancer that is spreading, spreading fast, and will take over our country in a few short years (5 year or less); the country was built for 200+ years will gone and we become a nuclear power that governed by a completely different set of rules that we see being demonstrated by trump. Those who lie the best become winners, those who cheat the best are become winners, those who are the most unethical become winners, those who steal become winners, etc. Those are at core of trump politics underneath BS that is put on top of it all. I just don't see trump political methods wiping out the strong foundation of who we are as a nation. It a valid to say its testing how strong we are as a nation, and the world is watch very close to see who comes out on top. If I am right, we will be highly respected for purging trump from the our system quickly\strongly.

If you are correct, and I am wrong, then our country never was a great nation, it really has been a nation waiting for trump to rise to the top to reflect what our nation has always been at the core. What is our true DNA is what is being tested. Are we really a nation that hold trump values, pretending to be a nation of ethics, justice, human rights, or are we that nation that history has demonstrated us to be (most of the time).

Long, and it probably should be significantly revised\shortened.

Nah, not too long. Hell, when I get going I really ramble.

Trump is symptomatic. He, himself, is not the cancer. The cancer has metastasized in the body politic. It is in the form of failed economic theology. The Democrats, starting with Bill Clinton and the so-called “third way”, bought into the Republican theology without coming out and saying it. That it exposed the economy to massive wealth shift, serial bubbles and stagnated wages was missed out by the Democrats. The cancer is in the form of racism and class warfare. Trump’s base, much more important than Trump himself is at least 35-40% of the electorate. That is not just frightening, it is disgusting. If the will of the people actually existed in just a few states Trump wouldn’t have been elected. Yet we see time after time citizenship is hard and too many simply cannot be bothered. That has been going on for decades.

Now as for what we stand for allegedly that is something else. Nations do not have morals and ideals. Nations have interests. Or perhaps a better way to put it is States have interests. We can espouse all we want but our actions from the founding of the country through Manifest Destiny, the Spanish-Cuban-American War, Korea, the overthrow of Arbenz and Mossadegh, Vietnam on through Iraq say something else much louder.

But even that isn’t really the issue. There are tectonic movements in power alignments happening right now and our entire government isn’t up to the challenge. War/Not War boundaries have been almost obliterated. The role of the Military has changed beyond recognition. The surveillance state is maturing. Our allies are shifting away from us as our enemies or at best those neutral are disgusted by our actions. These forces along with economic forces are proving far to difficult for a lazy, self-centered citizenry to deal with. So they have simply abdicated their responsibility.

As for greatness, every world power from the Spanish to the Dutch to the Brits have declared themselves basically the chosen people. None of it was, is or ever will be true.

According to the small minded persons in Alabama what you think is important - ISN'T.

    Is he white - Check

Is he a male - Check

    Against abortion - Check

Is he a Republican - Check

    End of story. I expect a 65% / 35% win on Tuesday.

A recent advertisement showed an image of a black man. That alone made it Waaaay over the line. It asked the question - If a black man was known for going after teenagers - would you elect him to the Senate ? Well they prefer their rampant racism buried under a couple layers of deniability. Even when the actions don't support that. The ad with the black man seriously ruffled some Republican feathers. Why should a black man ever speak unless a white man asked him a direct question is probably why they were bothered. Still 1845 in 'Bama.

Q: Why didn't trump hold his rally in Alabama when it clearly was a rally to endorse Roy Moore?

A: high risk of anti-trump protest marches against trump\moore, and EXTREME risk that the KKK (and other fringe right orgs) would show up supporting trump\moore.

That is damn smart "damage control" politics by somebody.

Charles Barkley spoke yesterday about how Alabama citizens should want to be a notch above their current station in the national picture. Barkley is an NBA hall of fame player. Cam Newton could be an important voice. We will see if they chose to alter their image of solid matter swirling at the bottom of a toilet. Big day for 'Bama.

At a Moore Rally, Bannon slammed Joe Scarborough for not being smart enough to get into a elite ivy league college.

Joe Scarborough graduated from University of Alabama.

Gotta love how deep Bannon dug for that facts on that one.

They might get Ted Nugent, but I think the republican party might have gone not too far off the deep end for him.

Talk about more damage control, the last few days of last week, Moore was nowhere to be found, probably laying low, out of sight, out of mind, at least the media couldn't find him to ask him really hard questions, one would be, "why did you pick on teen (under legal age) girls"? Weren't there any adult women that would have anything to do with you?

Bannon to Alabama voters at Moore's rally (not trumps's rally): "Don't let elites from the north tell you how to vote, I am telling you to vote for Roy Moore"

Bannon is an elite from Virginia.

Probably results will start getting reported around 7 or 8 pm. I am expecting a 65 / 35 finish. What can I do ? Zero. What will I do ? Agree to never go to or through the wasteland know as Alabama. Thus never spend a dime in support of their economy or existence.

I read something on social media that suggested we may be doing well so far. I want to see positive news from a better source. I will catch the news later. Hopeful.

With 50% of the votes counted it was looking like Moore was going to run away with it; Moore was ahead by about 25,000 votes.

Can't wait until trump's tweets how the system was rigged and democrats cheated\stole\lied\etc. He'll probably blame republicans leaders as well.

    Winners: Democrats and traditional Republicans
Losers: trump, trump republicans, Moore, Bannon

The question who gains the most, and who loses the most.

Traditional Republicans are sleeping the best tonight; they don't have a racist homophobe as the national symbol of Republican party for the next several years. Better to lose just 1 seat now, than 10+ plus because of Moore's leading a Senate campaign to round up Muslims and telling LGBT community to go back in the closet.

There, I fixed it for you.
