One thing Donald understands is that a whole lot of Americans love war. He knows that a solid percentage of Americans will blindly line up behind their President and cheer sending hundreds of thousands of young men and women to go fight "for freedom" in far off lands.

We already have freedoms. No sense sending thousands to die to get what we already have.

Dutch you are entirely right. War is never a good idea. Never. Self defense is important but not applicable here or now.

Two mad "leaders" talking about that monster in the closet.

Yes T.J. as I said many times: who wants to invade this country? No one; because then they are saddled up with our mess as well the 350 million guns in private hands. Thus having an proper homeland defense is the solution.

Because of trump's lack of knowing how to dialogue with foreign leaders, and the lack of knowledgeable diplomat vacancies in his administration, we have witnessed him and our country being painted or boxed into a corner by North Korea, South Korea and China. Trump should have never started his tariff trade war with China. I've heard over the past few days on a progressive radio station that China owns over $1T of US debt.

Using a Bing search: According to the Treasury, the largest foreign holder of U.S. debt is China, which owns more than $1.24 trillion in bills, notes, and bonds or about 30% of the over $4 trillion in Treasury bills, notes, and bonds held by foreign countries. In total, China owns about 10% of publicly held U.S. debt.

    ***********************************

Depending on which website's opinions you subscribe to, China's debt is worse than the USA's, they're in worse financial shape than America.

Dock, your last line is "fake" news. Don't forget China is not yet having the wars we got; thus their money can be used locally instead of being used for "wars" , which never give a return of investment as is the case with us. Also if they would have so much debt, why loan then trillions to the US. (If I'm broke then I'm the last one to loan you money.)

Trump said that Pompeo visited Kim in N. Korea. I don't believe it ( fake news?) I've got the idea that this lie is the same as that Pence was in Peru. I guess if you want to visit N. Korea you don't do that "alone"; you need translators, body guards and others to make notes or arrange things for you. Also an "agenda" and "subjects" to discuss . Since Trump has no "policy" or "plan", what was the purpose of Pompeo visiting there? Just drinking "tea" and talking about the weather does not work either. If you want to negotiate, then you need "experts" who can do such, not just the "deputy" of the "bully" who is not even appointed to his future function; his "card" will say I'm floating somewhere in the US government and still an apprentice for this job. All of this looks very amaturistic. And why does not anyone know about this except Trump? I don't see either that Pompeo flies half way around the world and no one noticed that.

The PRC’s issues are different. They are attempting to both modernize their military especially their navy while also maintaining high GDP growth including building an internal consumer economy so as to quell possible social unrest due to uneven geographic economic growth. The mass internal migrations from rural West to urban East underscore this as does the problem of the Muslim Uyghurs. As for PRC’s debt, it ain’t fake news.

Sure "Lonely" "debt" is worse if you did not get anything for it. At least in China they spent it on "infrastructure" ; here only on the "military"' as well on Trumps "trips" and stupidity and "billions" wasted on "elections". Also I believe that China will manage such "debt" better due to "discipline" and looking at the future instead of looking back, as Trump's slogan says: Make America great "again"

    And the answer is:

"including building an internal consumer economy so as to quell possible social unrest due to uneven geographic economic growth"

Just as simple as thaf. Just do it. The money is there. Why does the USA choose poverty over prosperity.

What we can be 100% certain about is that NK is not giving up their nuclear weapons program. Maybe they will say they will, but it will never happen.

We can also be certain that if trump goes over there to make a deal, he will make any deal they want just to boast the following:

"I made the world's greatest deal. The deal everybody said could not be done. Obama failed, Bush failed, Clinton failed. Only I, Donald Trump, put together a deal that nobody else could do"

That is all trump wants out of the deal; bragging rights.

The details of the agreement make no difference to him. He simply wants to make some historic claims that he did the impossible, even if the impossible is nothing more than giving NK everything they want, and they concede nothing. NK gets what they want. trump gets what he wants. Everybody else is fucked.

That is the art of the deal.

Yes you hit the nail on the head; yes everybody else, especially his goofy clan will fall for it.

The "two" ( Moon and Kim) met at the "border and Kim stepped over the "border" . It became a nice gentle visit with lots of smiles etc. It is very clear that China, N.Korea, S.Korea don't want the interference of the US in their deal. It should be clear to Trump and his cronies that they want to get rid of the US interference and presence on that part of the world. The only thing they want to talk with Trump about is; how fast can you remove the 40,000 troops from the "border"and stop the military exercises over there. Also China does not want that the US patrols come to close to the artificial islands they built in the South China sea. I bet that that becomes the "deal" . Trump already is lying about it that he is the deal maker. The deal was made without the US involvement.
