I've watched many Presidential press conferences in my adult life, but I have never seen anything like I just witnessed at Donald's first "major" press conference of his Presidency.

If you don't have the time (or the stomach) to watch the entire video then I'll try to condense it down for you.

Trump blamed the media for everything. He is smart big league. He refused to answer any direct questions about his campaigns communications with Russia. (Speaking of which, he admitted that the leaks are real but that any organizations discussing the leaks are fake.) He refused to criticize Russia for violating a longstanding nuclear treaty and for having a ship docked along the east coast. He bragged about his poll numbers from a Republican organization and called any polls that were negative fake news. Did I mention he blamed the media for everything?

That's about it. It's hard to believe he has been President for less than one month. It's going to be a really long four years.

He's a dangerous guy. He switches back and forth from the all powerful billionaire to a defenseless guy being picked on by a ruthless media. Calls a free for all press conference and then picks , choses and rephrases the questions.

He is a very impulsive, and as president that is not a good quality, and potentially very dangerous. I can see him spontaneously threatening a nuclear launch against a non-nuclear country if he felt personally insulted\challenged\belittled. It's easy to imagine him spouting off something like this without having even thought about it before actually saying it:

"If Iran doesn't comply with what I've told them to do, believe me, I won't think twice about proving them that I'm not afraid of launching a few nuclear warheads. Same goes for a few other countries I won't talk about right now"

He talks like that all the time, and maybe its all bar room BS, but it very concerning that he so impulsive and that he is having a difficult time handling the political pressure of being president.

Adding, Trump is a master of Doublespeak, he can talk for 10 minutes and make what he says emotionally feel like he got a plan, everything working, he is in total control, etc, but if you read the transcripts rather than listen\watch, its not very coherent and is vague overall. Fictional Example:

"if you look at the true facts, not the fake news facts by the lying media, and I should know, so listen closely, its all comes down to getting things done, but the media lies, so people think nothing is done, when in fact its already done, or maybe almost done, or could be done if I wanted it to be done sometime when I think it should be done, but you know how Hillary is trying to overturn the election where I got 306 electoral votes, the most in US History, This clearly proves everything I've been saying for over a year, its all the media's fault because they like to write fake news that claims she won by a landside, and I somehow rigged the election with the russians because Obama wasn't born in USA, and I've already proved that fact years ago, so why do they keep bringing it up that he was elected president before me, when its not possible to elect someone who wasn't born here. Trust me, the facts are always on my side. Obama and Hillary are conspiring to mislead voters, and there was millions and millions and millions of illegal aliens who for them"

When I read the transcripts, I'm puzzled as if he has a point or not.

All Americans should be embarrassed by his performance. I didn't know the press conference was on and missed part of it, but what I saw still caused me to cringe. It's the same guy we saw throughout the campaign. Nothing has changed. Yet 63 million Americans chose to vote for him. That says something.

Reading the excerpt from the transcript above makes it even worse. Sheesh.

What is wrong with you guys? He says that he runs an "fine tuned machine" how can you deny that? Jesus is helping him and appointed him according to the "bible belt" so what could go wrong????

I have never seen in my life such "childish" performance; he acts like any little kid. I want my lolly back; blehhhhhhh.

    I agree.

It's such a crazy dichotomy having watched such a thoughtful and intelligent speaker for the past eight years and now watching a shrill sociopath who insists that a rainy day is actually sunny and then label anyone who disagrees with him fake news.

I remain puzzled, probably shouldn't, as to why he inflats everything.

If he walks into a room with 10 supporters, his version is there were 100. If the room had 100 supporters, his version is there were 1000. Why not simply say "I was in a room full of supporters!"

And when its something he doesn't like, he does the same thing. When he's called out about over stating the facts, the counter attacks calling the media Fake News and liars.

Just don't understand how he thinks, and how others believe what is saying or love that everything is a huge fish story that gets bigger and bigger over time.

It is hard to tell sometimes whether he actually believes his own lies. He lies and exaggerates about everything, and he knows in repeating lies over and over again that they take on some kind new reality. Can you think of Ted Cruz anymore without the "Lyin" in front of his name? What do you think when you look at Carly Fiorna's face? And of course, Crooked Hillary? But is there some kind of psychological term for believing your own lies so strongly that they become a part of your alternate reality?

So the media tries to decipher the lies and what they really mean. And his Tweets. And now his bizarre press conference. However, we have to give him credit for getting into our heads...is it deliberate for political gain, or it just part of his persona? Whatever, he sure knows how to dominate the news. I heard on MSNBC that Putin ordered the Russian state media to stop covering Trump so heavily. It seems in January, Trump got more media coverage than Putin. The Russian media is also infatuated with him. He's gotten into the Russian heads as well.

Yes, its a bit like trying to figure out if he is pure genius by doing things that make no sense what so ever, or he is completely clueless.

I am wondering if he can't handle the pressure, and what we are seeing is a man in a state of panic.

Its all speculation, like trying to put together a jigsaw puzzle where the pieces are from 10 different puzzles. I was speculating, if Trump knows there is a smoking gun (staff acting on his direct orders) that links him directly to Russia's involvement with election, and the investigation is starting to get closer and closer to discover what really happened, he probably would be in a state a panic right now. During the campaign he didn't expect to win, so it would not have been a big deal who he talked to, or what he said. He was expecting to loose, thus he would just go back being Donald Trump the business man, with millions of new fans buying Trump branded products. Hillary would have won, there wouldn't have been a investigation into Flynn that now has everybody wondering what Flynn was saying to the Russians. Republications and democrats would have moved on to other fights, if he had lost.

Look up evil charisma. He is no different than any other evil charismatic leader. He can say anything hhe wants and a significant number of people eat it up. The danger is leaders like that mistake charisma for a validation and don't understand it is baseless.

He's attacking the "media" again, but "loves Limbaugh. All the other media is the enemy of all the people in America.

But yeah all his followers are indoctrinated by Fox news and their churches thus have become total non thinking "robots" who eventually "drown" if they keep following the "leader.

In the meantime (not this subject) an total anti - environment Oklahoma idiot is appointed to give all of us cancer or worse.

The DNC is deader than an door nail; they are unable to stop anything. Sure let mental ill people buy guns; that certainly will help the economy!! The whole of the GOP has become a bunch of brainless lunatics and follows the "bully" blindly.

UN UN Unbelievable.!!!!!!!! Sorry to say, this is not the America which the world respected. That is the past.

The world is looking at us and are fully aware that this country no longer can be trusted.

He does have some of those qualities, but he comes across as second rate charismatic leader, who will ultimately loose his effectiveness to rally a large enough base to leverage into political power. He's new, different, and tells his base what they want to hear. That base will erode over time, not get larger. Trump is likely to continue on the path of self-destruction, doubling down again and again in an effort gain back the eroding support. Voters who are loyal are from the talk\hate radio demographics like Rush Limbaugh, which represent fringe politics that the vast majority of Americans don't identify with, including most republicans. They tend not to be critical thinkers, and if Trump says something, no matter how outrageously misleading, they will accept it or somehow rationalize that false information coming from him is OK because its serving some greater good.
