Democracy not capitalism is the problem. Potentially good leaders are blasted out of the water when running for office.

Chet, what is wrong with you? "Democracy" is absolutely not the problem!!! I guess you have no idea what an "word" means. "Democracy" is out of the "window" here; it has become an form of capitalistic "dictatorship" by the rich and the uneducated. Again I ask you to use your dictionary and look it up.

Canada is Democratic; what is wrong with that country? It is run much better than our "capitalistic" one.

    Shaking my old head.

What does this even mean? What system of governance would you suggest we move to if the people shouldn't be able to elect the people who will lead them?

Our Democracy has many flaws, but those flaws have more to do with the way courts have ruled that corporations are people and dark money flooding the electoral system is totally acceptable. I'd much rather focus on making our democracy better and more fair than throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

You guys are almost goofy in your responses in order to criticize my posts. Both of you are blasting the hell out of democracy over Trump's election. Try and think first before spouting off. And especially Dutch. I had given you a lot of credit for thoughtfulness. I never said to get rid of Democracy did I??? Now if you guys are just having fun being rediculous that's okay but say so. Both of you don't like the electoral college for electing Trump. That is Democracy. I have said for over a year how Trump could get elected for no good reason but did you ever hear me criticize Democracy. Grow up.

Dutch, you are so find of definitions. Read this definition and tell me what is wrong with capitalism.

    cap·i·tal·ism

    ˈkapədlˌizəm/
    noun
an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.
Profit is what gets the job done. But it is abused by elected officials and lobbyists who cater to self interested money people.

Does Democracy represent the will of the people?

How do you get that I want to do away with Democracy. Then you say it has flaws. How is it possible to be so contradictory???

Chet; just check what you wrote: "Democracy (not capitalism) is the problem." Thus Democracy is the problem according to you. My English is not all that good, but check yours for an change; it is all garbled.

    Huh?

Maybe because I don't think something is worthless just because it isn't perfect.

My wedding ring was made one and a half sizes too big. Instead of throwing it away and getting a new one, I had it fixed.

The electoral college is the literal opposite of democracy. A true democracy would have dictated that Hillary Clinton was the winner because that is who the people voted for. By 2.9 million votes.

That's why I want us to be a true democracy. Let the people decide. If you like it then great. If not then at least you lost fair and square.

Getting beyond rediculous. Who wants to do away with Democracy? Who said anything is worthless? Have you no shame? You are spouting mindless made up fabricated accusations. But I am responding to your trite so it doesn't say much for my resource allication.

I hate to break it to you, but you are the one who got the ball rolling by saying that Democracy was the problem...

Democracy runs the country Dutch, if something is wrong then Democracy isn't doing the job. Democracy is the way to rules and regulations. If the rules and regulations aren't the will of the people then Democracy isn't working. You constantly point out how bad it is here. Is that the will of the people or is that because people aren't doing what they were elected to do???

No Chet you got it all wrong; just like Jared said an "electoral college" is not Democratic. The "votes" only should count that is Democratic.

Sorry I'll try to explain: Far right is Capitalism (here it is right now; Christian White Supremacy Capitalism) on the far left you have Communism; somewhere in the "middle" you may have Democracy in one form or another, leaning each way if required.

Before the election we had indeed an "balance" just about as many DNC or GOP senators thus power sharing. THAT IS NOT NOW THE CASE. It is now just about an ONE "Capitalistic party" rule. ( Billionaires/Bankers/ Generals)

Thus I hope you understand this picture.

Dutch, You seem to forget that on Oct 28 in spite of Hillary leading in the polls I explained in detail what was going on with Trump and the polls and how he could very possibly win the election. I understand human nature and what is going on. You don't not need to try and explain anything to me. The system is Democracy and it is not working correctly.
