New York Times: Melania Trump’s Speech Bears Striking Similarities to Michelle Obama’s 2008 Address

Sections of Melania Trump's speech were word for word plagiarized right out of Michelle Obama's 2008 address to the Democratic Convention. No wonder I thought it was a pretty good speech.

But that's not all being revealed about Melania Trump. She claims to have graduated from the University of Slovania. Not true. She dropped out after her first year.

Huffington Post: Melania Trump’s Claims She Graduated From College Are About As Credible As Her Speech Last Night

We have now been introduced to Mrs. Trump. In many ways, she reminds me of Mr. Trump. Heh?

The thought just occurred to me. Maybe the Donald didn't know Milania had not graduated from college. Maybe it was a lie from the beginning...before they were married. Wouldn't that be embarrassing.

They showed an side by side view on CNBC of Micelle's speech versus that of Melania; exactly the same; may be an couple of words changed. Unbelievable what those GOP idiots are doing. Big signs with Socialism "sucks"; while they don't know what the word means, as well things like Jesus "said"........; while this guy never wrote one word himself, but the writers invented such. An very intelligent bunch for sure. They also invited a woman who's family member was killed in Benghazi and blamed Hillary for it. Sorry but blame the Ambassador, who never should have gone there without protection. It only shows how little this country knows about the world outside of this "island" Anyway these Republicans are the "sickest" group which you can find.

    Huffington Post:

"It’s unclear how much of her speech Melania actually wrote, but earlier in the day she told NBC’s Matt Lauer, “I read once over it and that’s all. Because I wrote it and with [as] little help as possible.”"

"As word of the plagiarism began to spread early Tuesday, Trump supporters on cable news offered little in the way of defense. Jeffrey Lord, a Trump supporter on CNN, said whoever was responsible for the plagiarism “should not be there.” Overall, however, he downplayed the issue. “This is not Benghazi.”"

Except that the whole Republican narrative on Benghazi is also a lie. There are some eight or nine investigative reports that all vindicate Secretary Clinton. However, Republicans have for so long pushed this lie, that they now believe their own lies. That happens with the brain you know...a form of self brain washing.

Vox: The Trump campaign is now blaming Hillary Clinton for Melania’s plagiarism scandal

"The Trump campaign now says any allegations of plagiarism are "crazy" — and that any attacks Melania has received are the result of her criticizing presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

"Once again, this is an example of when a woman threatens Hillary Clinton, she seeks to demean her and take her down," Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort said in an early Tuesday morning interview with CNN.

Manafort painted it as absurd that Melania would attempt to plagiarize her remarks given the size of her audience and how many people she knows she would reach.

"She was speaking in front of a crowd of 35 million people last night, she knew that," Manafort said. "To think that she would be cribbing Michelle Obama’s words is crazy."

Wow, the cognitive dissonance of the Republican Party.

They live on lies. I don't know what Donald Trump's book the "Art of the Deal" is about but I know what collective bargaining is about. Bargaining typically exaggerates a position to counter an exaggerated denial to end of with a compromise. In my words both sides tell the biggest defensible lies. I would surmise Trump's ghost book proffered the same strategy. "Art of the Lie". Lying is life to those people.

What in the world could she have possibly have been thinking? Who in their right mind doesn't know that there are dozens of Democratic operatives who fact-check every single thing a Republican speaker says and is just waiting to pounce if they make an error.

Instead of talking about the first day of the convention and controlling the debate, Republicans are now having to fight back against obvious charges of plagiarism. It's a self-inflicted wound that was entirely avoidable.

Vox posted a video showing Michelle Obama's speech back in 2008 and did a point by point supercut comparing it to Melaina Trump's speech last night. It's as clear as day that she plagiarized, but Trump ever (and I mean EVER) admitting that he did something wrong just isn't going to happen.

    Thank goodness for modern technology...

She obviously was thinking anything because her job is to "support" Trumpy. It's all a charade. She didn't write or even understand what she was reading. She is eye candy for old white men, nothing more, nothing less!

Whomever stole Michelle's speech for her to read must be a total dummie thinking they wouldn't get caught but then again, perhaps that was part of the plan?

when you gave idiots appealing to other idiots you never know what will happen.

Here is some insight into the mind of the other people. They would not consider Meglania's speech plagiarism and this is there argument for calling people liars that accuse Melania of plagiarism. The Trumpeteers would say that those were Melaniasz thoughts. She expressed her feelings for her husband. There is nothing she said that is any different than what a million other wives would say about their husbands. To them there is nothing wrong that Melania feels that way. There are no unique thoughts expressed by Michelle about Barrack that are "intellectual property". The correct response to avoid wasting energy over a nothing issue is "so what!".

    Huh?

Trump and his group can say whatever the hell they want, but video doesn't lie. This was plagiarism plain and simple.

New technology was rolled out when I was in college that we as students would use to cross reference our papers/projects to make sure we cited them correctly and didn't advertently or inadvertently plagiarize. Mrs. Trump's advisers should have used this decade old technology before signing off on her speech.

Yes as was said by many members this show is an total farce; like child's play. when is this country going to grow up?

I'm just wondering if Hillary will introduce the right person to be her second. The names I saw were a "no no" for me.

She needs someone one with "guts" not like her : she's way too much an old English "tea" aunty keeping her posture; even when she gets a bit more exited; then it does not look genuine. I've changed my mind, she needs an attack dog like Elizabeth Warren. The other "men" on the list are way to timid. Thus "two" women can easily battle one "womeniser" So wake up Hillary show some guts and get yourself an "pitbull"

I think the real story here is not that someone made a mistake, whether it is Mrs. Trump or one of Mr. Trump's flunkies, but rather the way they are handling the mistake. A simple "we screwed up" with apologies and the story would have been lost by tomorrow. But no, the Trump brand is "we never make a mistake", or "never, never, admit a mistake", and therefore his cronies have to invent all kinds of reasons that deflect accountability. And that's the real story. No responsibility, no accountability...blame it on Hillary.

Now blaming Secretary Clinton...that resonates with the base. Telling them what they want to hear.

Look for them to deny or stonewall until the media loses interest. And if someone brings it up down the line, then "that's old news...we are concentrating on what we are going to do to make America great again, and you guys are piling on my wife."

    Or something like that.

But can Trump govern the country that way? Trust?
