It is not that simple. There are millions of disillusioned. Trump still holds a very powerful hand. Telling people to shut up and vote may not be a very sound campaign strategy. People need to be won over and not forced over. There is growing and fanned suspicion in the right tying Obama to the violence problem with the police. I hear people bringing up the Gates arrest and Obama saying the cop acted stupidly. Hillary can't stand as the only sensible choice. I hope with Bernie she starts offering hope for change. If not it is going to be a close race when in fact it should be a no brainer.

Schmidt, sorry Connie got some great points; however these are only a few of the many wrong things here. Whoever we elect, I don't think that any of these points will be tabled. But if you throw all the "wrongs" on one big heap then we will choke in the "heap". Thus we will just muddle on, on this island, who's inhabitants do not want to open their eyes, on how other countries had the same issues and how they resolved such. Certainly nothing from outer space will help us.

Not true. Clinton has long advocated for a two state solution.

    Connie Wrote: Against Single Payer

Do you not remember she was the lead negotiator in President Clinton's failed single-payer proposal that led to historic Democratic losses in the mid-term election? Maybe she understands that the nation just isn't ready for single-payer and would rather build off Obamacare instead of investing political capital in something she knows she will never get.

I hate fracking as much as you do, but fracking, mixed with tremendous investments in renewable energy, is the reason gas prices are so low today. Sometimes you have to make a deal with the devil to get what you want in the end.

Connie Wrote: Against abolishing Drug Plan D

What, and then lose the only voting bloc that votes at a 90% rate? That wouldn't be very wise now, would it??

    Connie Wrote: For TPP

I'll pass this one off to Schmidt.

Connie Wrote: For continuing to harass Iran

Hillary Clinton was the person who jump started the (then) very secret nuclear negotiations with Iran during her last year as Secretary of State. Secretary Kerry gets all of the accolades, but it was Clinton who got the ball rolling.

Connie Wrote: Refusal to get out of insane religious wars costing trillions

What religious wars are currently costing us trillions of dollars?

The point I was trying to make is that whatever policies we have in government, it's because of the candidates we vote into office. And when people don't vote citing their hatred for the candidates or their apathy, we get the kind of government representative of those who vote. Majority vote rules. Not the majority of complainers.

Regarding many of the issues that Connie listed, I could agree to some of them in principle. But many of them are just not doable now in our political atmosphere. Simply whining about anything here doesn't change anything.

Regarding the TPP, I have promised to write another blog article. Or maybe a series of shorter articles on trade with China, Mexico, Canada, and other countries, where there are provisions that help some and hurt some. It is not trade per se that is the problem. It is our inability to put together programs for workers and cities so affected by plant closures or mine closures or any other reason...trade, technology, markets, etc. Trade as a whole has been good for America. The benefits are just not evenly divided.

I am hopeful that the TPP will be passed in the lame duck session of Congress. Maybe I'll time the articles to coincide with the lame duck session...or the presidential debates.

I would rather focus on all the good things in the most progressive Democratic Party platform in history. Of course that's just me. Purity tests applied unilaterally just makes a person bitter.

Washington Post, July 12, 2016: The most progressive Democratic platform ever

I will support this platform and Hillary Clinton. After the convention I will be knocking on doors again, not only for Clinton but all good Democrats running for office. Those who cannot accept the platform or Hillary Clinton, well perhaps you need to do some soul searching...

When I wrote these facts about the Democratic Platform I was trying to explain why we no longer have a Democratic Party but instead a Corporatist Party. By the way Hillary was at the AIPAC convention trolling for big buckies, and Bernie did not attend. I will continue to support any party that stands for a government of the people, for the people and by the people, unfortunately, no such party exists in America today so I will join the Bernie Sanders movement which is the only movement that will do its very best to reestablish a New American Republic.

I find it interesting that people who speak the truth and facts are considered complainers and whiners and in this country are more often then not thrown in jail, fired or forced to leave the country for revealing serious criminal activities going on in the U.S. Government. Anyone defending and supporting a U.S. Government indulging in on going war crimes, unlimited arms dealing all over the planet and devastating other countries and passing Nazi Acts, creating a vast surveillance police state lacks any sense of right and wrong and truth and justice mean nothing to them. The reality is this; the only way the American people will ever regain their Republic is to abolish the U.S. Government and reestablish a New Republic.
