Sen. Ben Nelson has set in motion the beginning stage of developing an alternative plan to prompt the fullest possible participation in the health care reform law if its individual mandate is struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Beginning Monday, Nebraska-based abortion provider LeRoy Carhart will offer abortion services later in pregnancy at an existing clinic in Germantown, Md., according to National Abortion Federation President Vicki Saporta, the Washington Post reports. Carhart is one of the few U.S. providers who publicly acknowledges performing abortions later in pregnancy, according to the Post.
